The forecast team is engaged in building industry-level global forecasts that provide reliable insights into online, mobile, and emerging technology markets. With our forecasts, companies receive deep, reliable insight into the current size, composition, and future growth opportunities in their markets. The Forecast Analyst is responsible for building market-level forecasts for various Internet business segments and technology platforms. These forecasts are intended to give clients clear, analytical ways to think about upcoming changes in their sectors. Areas of focus are diverse and include online, mobile, and emerging consumer technologies. The Forecast Analyst will use a variety of quantitative methods in modeling the future, including close examination of analogous markets and consumer surveys, analysis of company financial statements and filings, scorecard analysis of market drivers and inhibitors, complex market segmentation analysis, and analysis of historical trends. The Forecast Analyst is responsible for designing and developing market models, conducting extensive industry research, conducting qualitative industry interviews, managing the process of building consensus among Forrester’s research teams, and communicating research findings to clients. In addition, this candidate will work closely with the sales team to support syndicated sales of the forecasts and scope out custom forecast opportunities. The ideal candidate should have worked as a management consultant, a financial analyst, or in a position conducting business and strategic analysis relating to consumer technology or the Internet. This person should be familiar with consumer survey data and its use in developing strategic insights. The candidate should understand how to develop forecasts and analyze business processes across multiple industries. Job Description: • Work with Forrester research teams in providing modeling analyses that support and drive research products. • Oversee advanced modeling in various topical areas, including usage and revenue forecast models for Internet business segments and technology platforms, cost structure studies, and financial analyses. • Interview business and technology executives at B2B and B2C companies. • Provide telephone and email inquiry responses to queries placed by Forrester’s clients. Job Requirements: • Strong conceptual and analytical skills; ability to synthesize divergent perspectives in building broad frameworks to solve business problems. • Experience with or demonstrated ability to quickly master the design principles underlying market forecast. • An understanding of consumer survey data and its limitations and usage. • An affinity to work with sales and to support them with client development. • Excellent presentation and writing skills. • Strong communication skills. • Someone who is detail- and process-oriented. • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint. • Five to seven years of related experience, such as management consulting, financial analysis, or business analysis working broadly in the field of technology. • Bachelor’s degree; MBA or other advanced degree a plus.
