MapForsyth is looking for an experienced GIS Developer.  The GIS Developer conducts advanced geospatial and statistical analysis of spatial data for users throughout city-county government and community organizations. This position will produce maps expressing the results of analytical processes using ArcGIS and Quantum GIS. Converts GIS data to various CAD formats, including but not limited to DXF and DWG, for various departments and public request. Uses coordinate geometry to convert surveying data to GIS format. Prepares project plans, directs vendors, and coordinates internal team members in the completion of spatial data collection projects. Helps programming staff understand spatial data processes while creating and maintaining end user applications.A successful candidate should have the following knowledge, skills and abilities:
Knowledge of the principles of geographic information science and GIS technology.

Extensive skill in the use of GIS software, particularly ArcGIS in its desktop and online forms.

Extensive knowledge and experience with Python and ESRI’s Model Builder for spatial data maintenance and routine geoprocessing.

Working knowledge of Arcade programming language

Working knowledge of ArcGIS Server and Server Manager

Ability to work multiple projects simultaneously a must.

Knowledge and experience with open-source GIS programs beneficial.

Ability to develop and maintain online spatial data tools for non-GIS users.

Considerable skill in applying GIS technology to solve more difficult analytical problems.

Expert knowledge of relational database management systems and the ability to use the SQL language.

Knowledge of the fundamentals of Global Positioning System and skill in the use of GPS technology for data collection.

Ability to understand and employ remote sensing datasets including multi-band ortho imagery and LiDAR data.

Moderate ability to utilize various software programs and applications as a means of importing and exporting data for use by county and city departments, community organizations and the public.

Skill in spoken and written communications, including the ability to express meaning through cartography.

Bachelor's degree in geography, engineering, planning, or GIS; or equivalent academic credentials related to the field of employment and four years of experience in the use of GIS technology; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.

GIS certification can be used to establish equivalency.

A master's degree in a related field with extensive coursework in GIS can substitute for two years of relevant work experience.

GISP designation a plus.Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Performs advanced analysis of spatial data, as well as business intelligence research and analytics, using GIS technology.

Develops and manages online applications and tools using ESRI ArcGIS online platform

Develops scripts and custom tools to maintain data and applications using Python and Arcade programming languages and SQL commands

Coordinates the procurement and distribution of spatial data.

Manages highly complex GIS projects.

Creates and and maintenance of spatial data.

Provides GIS support to Emergency Management and the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) as needed – could require working outside of the normal business hours (8am-5pm)

Supports maintenance of GIS layers specifically for CAD/ 911 and Next Generation 911 as directed by the GIS Coordinator.

Collaborate with County MIS staff, City of Winston-Salem IS staff and third-party vendors for technical issues relating to GIS software, hardware, and databases
