Forsyth County General Services Department is seeking a candidate for the position of Sr. Custodian. An employee in this is position directly supervises staff whom perform janitorial services in a County building. Works along side their supervisor and the custodial staff to ensure County building is clean and sanitary. Makes recommendations for supply and equipment needs. Assists staff with janitorial techniques and procedures.
Work schedule:
6:00 am to 2:30 pm, Monday through Friday A successful candidate should have the following knowledge, skills and abilities:
Considerable knowledge of cleaning methods, materials and equipment used in custodial work.
Ability to coordinate, supervise and evaluate the work of others.
Ability to instruct others in correct usage of cleaning supplies and equipment.
Ability to observe and report needs for supplies.
Ability to maintain effective working relationships with other employees.Graduation from high school or GED and three years experience in custodial work
A valid driver's license is required.At least one year of supervisory experience preferred.
A higher education level may be considered as a substitution for all or part of the experience requirement.
This position is subject to working in high security areas governed by the US Department of Justice's Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy and therefore requires successfully passing a more stringent criminal background check.Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Assigns and reviews the work of a group of custodians responsible for cleaning assigned buildings.
Assures that employees are on the job; completes time sheets.
Trains employees on the proper use of new cleaning supplies or equipment; coordinates the training of new employees.
Inspects cleaning equipment for faulty operation.
Coordinates big projects such as moving furniture or special cleanings.
Makes necessary arrangements to assure adequate supplies are available for cleaning assignments.
Performs other duties as assigned.
