The Forsyth County Department of Social Services is seeking to hire a Sr. Social Worker Supervisor. This individual must be able to direct and oversee the provision of CPS Intake and CPS Assessments and CPS Investigations provided by a rotating staff of six (6) Sr. Social Workers. They will be responsible for the implementation of work standards and expectations within this unit/program area as defined by state/federal guidelines, NC General Statutes, and county/agency policies. This individual will gather and evaluate unit data to measure performance, review dictation for accuracy and compliance; conduct conferences on a regular basis, evaluate case situations and progress and provide direction and guidance to ensure compliance. There may be other duties assigned within child welfare as necessary. - This position works in the Child Protective Services (CPS)/After Hours Unit.
- The hours of work are on a rotating schedule Monday-Fridays 4:00 p.m.-12:00 a.m.; Monday-Friday 12:00 a.m.-8:00 a.m.; 12-hour shifts on weekends; as well as provide coverage during holidays.
- This position requires excellent customer service and interview skills to assess the needs of children and families.
- Flexibility in scheduling is needed to meet the needs of the families served and the mandated time frames.
- The Sr. Social Work Supervisors frequently have meetings scheduled between the hours of 8:00am-5:00pm.
- The CPS After Hours Senior Social Work Supervisor should have excellent assessment skills, sound judgment, the ability to serve children and families from all socioeconomic backgrounds with a range of mental capacities, without personal bias.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are also necessary for this position.
Master's degree from an accredited school of social work and two years of social work or counseling experience; orA Bachelor's degree from an accredited school of social work and three years of social work or counseling experience; orA Master's degree in a counseling field and three years of social work or counseling experience; orA four year degree in a human services field or related curriculum including at least 15 semester hours in courses related to social work or counseling and four years of social work or counseling; orGraduation from a four-year college or university and five years experience in rehabilitation counseling, pastoral counseling, group work, or community organization.A higher education level may be considered as a substitution for all or part of the experience requirement.Valid driver's license required.Previous supervisory experience is a plus. Bilingual skills (English/Spanish) are also a plus. This individual will have to work in conjunction with the two other CPS AHU Sr. Social Work Supervisors, the Program Managers and all other members of the Division. The individual will have to implement work standards and expectations within this unit as defined by state and federal guidelines, NC statutes, and county/agency policies.
This individual will gather and evaluate unit data to measure performance, review dictation for accuracy and compliance with federal, state and county standards, statutes and protocols, on a regular basis; conduct conferences, evaluate case situations and progress and provide direction and guidance to ensure compliance.
The Sr. Social Work Supervisor will supervise and direct the work of Sr. Social Workers who must be able to assess and evaluate alleged facts of suspected child abuse, neglect, or dependency. The individual must also be able to assess and evaluate family’s strengths and needs, describe safety factors and the appropriate safety response assess child’s safety and develop safety response plan with parent/caretaker include identified interventions initiate court intervention to ensure child’s safety provide ongoing assessment/evaluation of family towards identified goals, complete case initiation according to the mandated state guidelines and timeframes. Complete documentation in a timely manner based on county, state and federal requirements to ensure appropriate service provision to children and families. They must also be able to document all interactions, complete and turn in documentation to supervisor at established timeframes, collaborate with families to ensure safety, well-being and permanence for children. AHU staff frequently collaborates and consults with law enforcement, medical personnel, and other community resources. Thus the Sr. Social Work Supervisor must possess the same skills and abilities.
