Summary

The Class A CDL Flowboy Driver is responsible for safely operating trucks and a live bottom trailer, with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) of at least 26,000 pounds throughout Maryland - DC - NoVA region to deliver equipment to job sites.

One should be available seven (7) days per week, but cannot work more than 70 hours per week. This is not an OTR position.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Safely operate a heavy or tractor-trailer truck,
  • Load and unload cargo,
  • Properly track and document activity logs,
  • Report any issues or incidents to dispatch,
  • Operate a variety of vehicles once certified,
  • Provide hands-on support for the crew as needed,
  • Haul material and / or equipment to and from job sites,
  • Daily pre-shift vehicle and equipment inspections; maintain a daily log,
  • The operator is expected to use their experience and judgment to make decisions within their limits of authority,
  • Responsible for operating heavy equipment in a safe and appropriate manner,
  • Must maintain and secure all equipment as directed by policies and procedures,
  • Read and interpret equipment operator / s manuals,
  • Inspect, clean, and perform minor repairs to equipment using hand tools and or report malfunctions to supervisors,
  • Perform daily safety checks and required fluid checks, filter checks, and more,
  • Work in areas of uneven terrain,
  • Assist in the training of new or less-skilled equipment operators,
  • Read and comprehend site-specific rules, maintenance instructions, training manuals, and material data,
  • Must understand safety sheets (MSDS), warning tags, and traffic signs,
  • Ability to perform a variety of duties including, but not limited to, hauling, dumping, snow plowing and salt roadways,
  • Applicants must be able to operate Manual Transmission vehicles,
  • May be required to work extended hours including evenings, nights, and weekends,
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • Must have a valid Class A CDL,
  • Must have a minimum of 2 years experience operating a tractor-trailer,
  • High School Diploma or GED required,
  • Must be able to obtain a Class 7 Operators license in the District of Columbia,
  • Must have a relatively clean driving record,
  • Must have a strong safety record,
  • COVID-19 vaccination is highly recommended,
  • Must be able to successfully pass a background and drug screening.

Working Conditions

  • This job may require you to work extended hours including evenings, nights, and weekends.
  • This job requires the ability to lift, pull, and push a minimum of 50 lbs., bend, stoop, kneel, reach, squat twist, and climb heavy equipment several times throughout the day.

In addition, you must have the ability to be on your feet regularly and use hands, arms, and legs repeatedly on the job.

This includes frequently walking on sloped ground and slippery and uneven surfaces, as well as working in confined areas.

  • This job requires the ability to sit for extended periods of time.
  • This job requires the ability to see, whether naturally or with vision correction tools (glasses, contacts).
  • This job requires the ability to perform essential job tasks in less than favorable job conditions. These may include, but are not limited to : Performing strenuous work in varying temperatures, humidity, wind, or other extreme inclement weather conditions for extended periods of time.
  • Work may be performed in an environment with exposure to extremely hot materials, fuel, fumes, vapors, dust, grease and oils, as well as loud and / or constant noise and exposure to moving equipment.
