Summary:

The Asphalt Raker/Luteman assists with the application of asphalt on highway, roadways, and parking lots.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Distribute and take asphalt material used in construction, repair, and resurfacing,
• Raking, sweeping, and lining out the road, as well as working alongside the tractor, mill, paver, and the screed,
• Match and finish freshly made asphalt paving joints,
• Finish surfaces by smoothing and tamping asphalt material to the proper grade and thickness to properly adhere material to road surface,
• Prepare road surfaces for hot asphalt material,
• Understand and execute paving procedures while following instructions to meet the standards of the project,
• Repair utility cuts by removing temporary material and replacing with permanent hot asphalt material,
• Evens and adjusts surface irregularities, restores surface finish, spreads asphalt to proper grade and finishes before compaction,
• Assist with traffic control, barricades, cones, etc.,
• May be required to work extended hours including evenings, nights, and weekends,
• Additional duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

• Must have 2 or more years of asphalt raking experience,
• High School diploma, GED or equivalent,
• Valid unrestricted driver's license with a good driving history preferred,
• Must be a reliable/trustworthy team player,
• Maintain good attendance and safety record,
• Knowledge of the paving process and willingness to learn multiple tasks of the paving operation,
• Ability to follow direction of the supervisor and other crewmembers,
• COVID-19 vaccination is highly recommended,
• Must be able to successfully pass a background and drug screening.
