1. Teach a combination of Biology, Environmental, Chemistry, and Physics courses at the freshman and

sophomore curriculum levels, in accordance with the established course outlines of record and consistent

with college standards. This includes organizing instruction to achieve course and program learning

outcomes, selecting textbooks, organizing and conducting laboratories, instructing through lecture,

demonstrations and field experiences.

CHMY 121 Introduction to General Chemistry/Lab

CHMY 123 Introduction to Organic & Biochemistry Principles/Lab

CHMY 141 College Chemistry I/Lab

CHEM 143 College Chemistry II/Lab

BIOB 160 Principles of Living Systems/Lab

BIOB 170 Principles of Biological Diversity/Lab

BIOH 201 Human Anatomy & Physiology I/Lab

BIOH 211 Human Anatomy & Physiology II/Lab

BIOM 250 Microbiology for Health Sciences/Lab

ENVS 105 Environmental Science

PHSX 105 Fundamentals of Physical Science/Lab


2. Advise thirty to forty STEM students, 10 to 15 hours monthly, during the academic year.

3. Assist in curriculum development in the STEM fields (Associate of Science – Science, Associate of Science

– Pre-Health and Pre-Nursing, Science - Biomedical).

4. Participate in the college faculty senate and college committees (program learning outcomes) as assigned.

5. Participate in faculty evaluation activities, service learning and student retention initiatives.

6. Keep up-to-date on science, biology, chemistry, and educational issues (including techniques of effective

learning).

7. Coordinate and manage summer student research interns in biological studies (when grants and contracts

support such activities).

Qualifications

1. A Master’s Degree in Biology from an institution accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by the

US Department of Education.

2. Documented successful college teaching experience in biology, including procedures and protocols in safe

handling of chemicals and organizational skills in managing laboratory classrooms.

3. Related professional experience in American Indian communities.

4. Demonstrated ability to relate to students and staff of varied ethnicity, especially American Indian

students, and a commitment to a culturally diverse educational environment.

5. Appreciation and respect for students (including adult students) and their role and responsibility in the

learning process.

6. Demonstrated commitment to the philosophy and mission of the tribal community college.

7. Experience with Moodle.
