This position pays $16/hr. Must be willing to work a flexible schedule including holidays, weekends, and evenings, indoors, and outdoors.

Position Purpose

The Fort Worth Botanic Garden is a public garden with indoor and outdoor event space personally serving guests 7 days a week. The job is general janitorial and event setup for all the above. This position sets up chairs & tables, and cleans up after parties, weddings, banquets, and meetings. We also clean the office spaces, restrooms, kitchens, etc. If you are dedicated to the details that turn a venue into an experience, we think you might be a great fit for this team. 

Principal Responsibilities 

• Performs a wide variety of duties in the preparation of public events related to set-ups, which may include delivering supplies and various kinds of materials; and assembling, arranging, disassembling, and stowing furniture, tables, and chairs.
• Cleans meeting rooms, exhibit space, corridors, restrooms, offices, public spaces, and maintains floor surfaces using mops, scrubbers, and sweepers.
• Provides information and gives directions to the public including stewarding access to prevent interruptions of private events taking place inside buildings and outdoors in the gardens.
• Drives people moving carts throughout the garden upon request. 
• May work with small crews of temporary laborers or volunteers as needed. 
• Locks and secures buildings.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position with regular work hours scheduled Saturday through Friday, between 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. Flexibility and working evenings, weekends, and holidays is required. This position must be performed onsite however, a flexible work schedule may be available.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to see, talk, or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, push, pull and lift. Position requires use of hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and may use repetitive motions. 

Employee can expect to exert up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position. 

Qualifications

Special Position Requirements 

• High School diploma/GED.
• Must demonstrate a proficiency in written and spoken English.
• Fluency in additional languages, especially Spanish is desirable but not required.
• Employee must maintain current Texas Driver’s License and auto-related liability insurance. 
• Employee is required to undergo a physical exam to assess whether the person is able to perform the duties of the position with or without accommodation. 
• Physically able to perform strenuous manual labor tasks related to assigned responsibilities. 
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and work as part of a team. 

Helpful Education and Experience 

• Experience in janitorial best practices.
• Experience operating basic audio-video equipment. 
• Experience in floor care utilizing floor cleaning equipment.
• Fire code and chemical safety training.
• Must have basic computer and mobile phone app skills for benefits enrollment, time reporting, and electronic communication.
