Director of Education

Reports to: President

Position Summary:

The Director of Education sets the standards of educational quality and supports the efforts of the faculty and staff to achieve maximum educational effectiveness. Maintains academic policies and programs for the school, and manages activities of multiple academic programs, Program Directors and faculty. As the Director of Education at the school, you will report to the President on all matters related to the school and will collaborate with the National Director of Education on all retention and academic matters. The Director of Education also serves as the liaison officer with accrediting and licensing agencies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Ensures that faculty clearly understand and execute their responsibilities and duties.

· Schedules classes for upcoming start periods 60 days in advance of the start

· Ensures that daily, weekly, and monthly activities are completed in a timely manner (e.g. turn-around time on student schedules, tests and assignments, equipment functioning).

· Ensure attendance is in compliance with the catalog and state regulations, ensure attrition is managed effectively.

· Manages / assigns various projects and duties (determined with the President) to faculty members and monitors progress.

· Monitors and maintains regulatory compliance, provide student census and tracking data for annual compliance reports.

· Maintains records and files in accordance with regulations.

· Supports submissions of self-study, program approvals, program revisions to state, programmatic and institutional accrediting agencies.

· Assists with accreditation readiness and accreditation visits

· Plans, conducts and documents advisory board meetings, faculty and in-service meetings and seminars.

· Evaluates instructional performance at least twice a year for all instructional staff through classroom observation.

· Effective management of weekly classroom schedules, to ensure day and evening attendance, proper staffing, and adhere to posted schedule times.

· Reviews course evaluation surveys and discusses results with the respective Program Directors, faculty members and President.

· Quickly and professionally responds to students who demonstrate undesirable behaviors (such as poor attendance/attitudes, or lag in motivation and enthusiasm), and thereby positively influence the entire academic climate.

· Counsels students who are absent or otherwise exhibiting negative behavior and refer to the President if needed and maintain records of those counseling sessions.

· Oversees student Clinicals, Externship and Internship activities and monitors their successful completion.

· Encourages and motivates faculty to participate in activities such as guest speakers, field trips, Advisory Board activities, evaluation of texts, student evaluation and curriculum updates and changes.

· Assures that up-to-date course outlines, syllabi, and lesson plans for each course are maintained.

· Aids, assists, and counsels students in direction or resolution of personal and academic concerns.

· Reviews and analyzes, for Standards of Academic Progress purposes, the mid and end-of-term grade reports for every student in the program, and provides academic advice to students not meeting published satisfactory academic progress standards.

· Maintains a proactive stance in the retention of students.

· Administers the Transfer policy and determines which courses students may be transferred from other institutions.

· Acts as a catalyst for the ongoing improvement of educational training programs and the expansion and/or changing of existing programs.

· Interviews and recommends new faculty hires to the President and conducts orientation of new faculty members.

· Implements a course of action for faculty whose performance needs improvement.

· Conducts initial faculty training upon hiring of new faculty members.

· Regularly identifies and monitors faculty professional development activities and programs.

· Reviews academic policies and procedures at New Student Orientation; takes ownership of the Orientation process form an Educational Department perspective.

· Updates and enforces academic policies and procedures.

· Oversees the development and continuous updating of the Institutional Effectiveness Plan

· Supports the development, approval and timely implementation of new programs and curriculum revisions.

· Participate in activities related to the re-entry process, admissions process, including, but not limited to, providing the admissions team with updated information concerning educational offerings and the licensure, certification, and career aspects of industry areas.

· Develops and implements local articulation and partnership agreements. Ensures extern students have sites for attendance.

· Serves the interests of the School in outside committees and through contacts with local businesses, agencies and organizations.

· Adhere to and support school policies and procedures as referenced in the employee handbook, faculty handbook, and catalog.

· Attends graduation and orientation ceremonies.

· Perform such other duties as may be specified by the by the President.

· Maintains regular and reliable attendance.

Skills/Competencies/Qualifications:

· Documented expertise in proprietary education to include management of academic affairs and personnel as demonstrated by resume, references, transcripts, certifications, etc.

· Experience in hiring, training and supervising Program Director, faculty and other academic personnel.

· Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite and Student Database Management Systems. (CampusVue preferred)

· , Will consider experience from the educational sector outside of proprietary for the right person.

· have , prefer some teaching experience. Possess the competency, professionalism and leadership necessary to lead and manage a diverse faculty of 25 and a diverse student population of 250 effectively.

· managing and developingcurriculum, leading educational effectiveness; supporting and coaching faculty performance and development.

· Proven experience in student outcomes, retention strategies and problem solving abilities is a must

· Required characteristic traits: Takes 100% ownership of role and responsibilities. Holds self to a high level of accountability, manages the team to the same. Excellent communicator. Identifies issues, proposes solutions and executes agreed upon solutions.

· Must have experience with an Accreditor such as COE, ABHES or ACCSC.

· Ideally has experience working with THECB and TWC.

· Masters in Education and/or Ph.D. required.

Classification: Exempt

Work Hours: Five day workweek; ability to manage a spectrum of classes Mon- Thur, 8:00A – 10:30P

Travel: Extremely limited. Annual conference held nationally. Limited travel around city as site visits may require.

Working Environment: Interior/office

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $85,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year
