Responsibilities
We are looking for a team player with a vision towards forward thinking to help continue to grow and build our Tax Controversy and Procedure Practice. As a Tax Consultant, you will be part of an experienced team of dedicated professionals focused on providing guidance and counsel in connection with tax matters before the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and other taxing authorities. Our team is comprised of experienced tax professionals with a wide range of backgrounds, including academia, legal, governmental, and private industry. This position will provide an opportunity to explore all areas of tax controversy and procedure to build a valuable career tailored to your individual goals.
How you will contribute:
- Working in and participating in the build-out of a growing Tax Controversy and Procedure practice
- Assisting with IRS audits, which includes preparing responses to information document requests
- Assisting with IRS appeals, which includes drafting protests and attending appeals hearings
- Assisting with researching and drafting position papers on a variety of substantive tax matters
- Assisting with IRS Fast Track settlement and other alternative dispute resolutions
- Tracking and monitoring the status of tax controversies
- Preparing and assisting with the execution of penalty abatement requests in both federal and state penalty cases.
- Participating in Knowledge Share on controversary matters within the Firm and externally

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- 4 years or more of work experience in federal interest computation and/or complex, multi-year federal tax computation experience
- CPA, licensed attorney, enrolled agent, or in the process of obtaining
- Experience with DMI (Decision Modeling Inc.) Interest and Penalty software or comparable interest netting software
- Thorough knowledge of interest rules, regulations, revenue procedures and ruling, and other guidelines with the ability to research, analyze and determine complex interest situations
