This position has needs for on-site / hybrid work environments with ideal candidates being geographically located in San Diego, CA. Typically, on-site work will be 3 days per week. This position has the option to work a 9/80 schedule, which is a compressed work schedule, with alternate Fridays off.
Job Description:
Forward Slope is seeking an experienced Software Engineer to provide software development of full-stack web applications for the Department of Defense (DoD) and the Naval Information Warfare Center (NIWC). This role supports the Logistics IT Services (LOG IT) program, which delivers a single Naval portfolio of more than 300 legacy Navy and Marine Corps logistics IT systems, deployed ashore and afloat.
Day-to-day efforts include working with highly talented professionals and subject matter experts to support mission-critical software systems that provide tools and resources for successfully planning and executing Naval maintenance logistics activities.
This is a full-time position under our Software Solutions group.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or physics
- 2 years of demonstrated full-stack software development experience with:
- Object-oriented programming (e.g., Java, Python, C , C#)
- UI development with modern web technologies (e.g., Node.js, React)
- Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) and web services (e.g., REST, AJAX)
- Application hosting (e.g., Apache, Tomcat, NGINX)
- Source Code Management (i.e., Git)
- Containerization and orchestration technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
- CI/CD automation tools (e.g., Jenkins, Tekton)
- Experience with Agile software development
- Experience with enterprise software architecture
- Experience with using containers, image registries (e.g., Artifactory), orchestration platforms (e.g., Kubernetes, RKE2, K3s, OpenShift), and package managers (e.g., Helm) to deploy software using microservices architecture to support Navy DevSecOps initiatives.
- Experience with integrating Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines.
Desired Qualifications:
- Currently hold an active secret U.S. security clearance or be able to obtain one
- Experience with data streaming tools (e.g., Apache NiFi, Apache Kafka, Confluent Platform)
- Experience with cybersecurity tools (e.g., OpenSCAP, JFrog Xray, Coverity, SRM, OWASP ZAP, Anchore)
- Experience with secrets management tools (e.g., HashiCorp Vault)
- Demonstrated experience with:
- Cloud computing infrastructure or development (e.g., AWS, Microsoft Azure)
- Full-stack software development (e.g., Java, .NET, JavaScript, SQL)
- Utilizing Atlassian suite or equivalent (e.g., JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket)
- Test automation frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Cypress)
- Configurating OIDC and OAuth
*Salary Range: $90,000 - $120,000 per year
