Summary of Position
The Coalition is hiring a Grants Manager to support fundraising operations. Members of the Development
Team support the Coalition’s mission by inspiring, managing, and growing the gifts of donors. The successful
candidate will be responsible for managing the full grant lifecycle including, but not limited to: prospecting
new grant funders, managing the grant calendar, stewarding relationships with foundation staff and/or
trustees, and writing compelling grant proposals and interim reports to support the vision, mission,
principles, and strategic goals of the Foster & Adoptive Care Coalition. This includes, but is not limited to,
securing grants from government, private, and individual sources.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities
• Research private, public, state, and federal grants available and the qualification criteria.

Discuss strategically aligned sources of funding with leadership

  • Compile necessary information for the proposal development and application process
through collaboration with other employees, database research, and other research avenues
  • Manage preparation and timely submission of grant proposals
  • Follow up with and ensure fulfillment of grant acceptance requirements
  • Collaborate with Grants and Data Manager on grant and reporting due dates to be included
in the Grant Calendar
  • Work collaboratively with the Director of Evaluation and Learning, Children and Family
Services Data Analyst, and Grants & Data Manager to complete all required reports and

ensure these are submitted on time

  • Schedule and prepare for site visits with funders, including briefing the Senior Director of
Development and Executive Director when necessary
  • Implement engagement plans for funders to share regular updates about the impact of
their investment
  • Create and implement retention and step-up strategies for funders
  • With Development Team, project and meet fundraising budgets
  • Record, manage, and analyze fundraising data for trends and recommendations using
Salesforce and other prospect
  • Participate and engage in team and agency meetings and/or individual professional
consultations. Majority of these meetings should be attended in person.
  • Respect and demonstrate an understanding for differences, including the ability to interact

national origin, sexual orientation, age, disability and socioeconomic status
  • Respond promptly to communication from staff, clients, and professionals promptly

Qualifications & Requirements

Education
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a related field

Experience
• Minimum of one year of experience in grant writing
  • One year of demonstrated grant research experience and knowledge
  • Demonstrated ability to work with top-level community leaders and philanthropists
  • Experience managing various projects and deadlines with a high degree of independence

Preferred Skills / Qualifications

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage funders and build long-term relationships
  • Thorough understanding of local, state, and federal funding sources and the ability to locate
potential sources for funding.
  • Thorough understanding of effective grant writing techniques
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong organizational and time management skills and ability to prioritize
  • Strong ability to work collaboratively and as a member of a team, sharing in responsibilities,
successes, and challenges
  • Strong computer skills
  • Ability to interpret financial data from Form 990’s and other sources to infer philanthropic
behavior and goals

Organizational Relationships/Scope
• This position reports to the Sr. Director of Development and works

closely with the Marketing Team.

Working Conditions
• This position entails work in the community and office.
  • Use of an automobile for local travel to multiple sites may be required.
  • The Coalition office is considered home-base with primary office hours Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM-
4:30 PM.
  • This position requires flexibility. Evening and weekend hours may be required to meet the

expectations of this position.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate

effectively.
  • The physical requirement of this job includes sitting, standing, walking, climbing stairs; lifting up

to 25 lbs., pulling and/or pushing on occasion.
