Foster Garvey PC, one of the Pacific Northwest's leading law firms, is searching for a full-time Systems Engineer with exceptional client service skills to join our IT team. Systems Engineers are responsible for designing, implementing, monitoring and managing the local and
wide area networks of an organization to ensure maximum uptime for users. The role can include designing system configurations, documenting and managing the installation of a new network, and maintaining and upgrading existing systems as necessary.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Systems Engineers will work in-house as part of an organization’s IT team, Systems Engineers work closely with IT Management. A Systems Engineer job description can therefore comprise of:
• Designing and implementing new network solutions and/or improving the efficiency of current networks
• Maintaining computer networks including servers, switches, access points and other physical hardware
• Supporting infrastructure resources such as Active Directory, DNS, DHCP and VPNs.
• Procuring network equipment and managing subcontractors involved with network changes.
• Configuring firewalls, routing and switching to maximize network efficiency and security.
• Perform ongoing monitoring of the network and troubleshooting issues related to the infrastructure.
• Proactively perform upgrades and firmware updates.
• Providing specifications for the end-to-end physical implementation of various project requirements including detailed hardware configurations, racks, network configurations, infrastructure, racking systems, power distribution & floor load management.
• Perform network integration work to support hybrid or multi-cloud models, such as connecting a private cloud with Azure.
• Support and maintain a hybrid network environment with Exchange/O365 and AD/Azure
• Support the Help Desk with escalated issues related to the infrastructure.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Holding a degree and having a technical background will be required to gain a Systems Engineer role. Degrees in the following subjects can be included:
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science/engineering or related field or equivalent experience.
• 5 years of experience with Virtual Machine Technology (Hyper-V, VMWare)
• 2 years of experience with layer 3 routing, switching functions and LAN technologies.
• Experience or familiarity with Cloud Services (AWS/Azure/GCP)
• Have a good understanding and some experience with Office 365 & Exchange
• A desire to learn new technologies.
• Excellent problem-solving skills.
• Good time management
• An ability to follow processes.
• Strong documentation skills
• Good communication skills – both written and verbal, the ability to communicate technical information to other technical team members but also to coworkers in other departments who may not have knowledge of networking technical terminology
• Commercial and business awareness
Salary Range:
The pay range for this position is $110,000 – $115,000 annually; however, actual pay may vary depending on the candidate's education, training, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
