What are the responsibilities and job description for the Barrel Warehouse Operator position at FOUR ROSES DISTILLER?
This is a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same! This is a day shift position, Monday through Friday 7:00am to 3:30pm with opportunities for overtime. The Barrel Warehouse Operator is responsible for miscellaneous labor functions to maintain operations in compliance with all standard operating procedures, safety and quality, to efficiently manufacture Four Roses Bourbon products. Daily responsibilities will include, but not limited to:
Major Responsibilities 90%New Barrel Entry
• Receives 500-pound barrels from truck into designated warehouse location
• Rolls barrels down aisle way to designated rack/tier location
• Works in warehouse racks (1 to 6 barrels high), "cutting" (re-align) barrels into
correct position in rack/tier
• Ensures barrels are positioned in rack with bungs in an "up" (12 o'clock) position
Withdrawal
• Withdraws barrels from warehouse rack locations for dumping and shipment of
product
• Works in warehouse racks rolling barrels onto Ricker (2 to 6 barrels high) or to aisle
way floor (1st tier)
• Rolls barrels down aisle way to dock-ricker
• Operates dock-ricker to roll barrels into truck
• Heads-up barrels (stand on end) in trucks for transport to another location with
assistance of truck driver
Dumping
• Unloads barrels from truck into the "Bulk Building"
• Removes bungs from barrels
• Rolls barrels onto dump trough, for emptying of product
• Dumps barrels for shipment of bulk product
• Rinsing of barrel interior, and re-dumping
• Stages empty barrels in a "head-up" position for subsequent shipment
Safety & Compliance
• Abide by all EPA rules and regulations.
• Abide by all OSHA rules and regulations.
• Follows all applicable safety rules for assigned duties including reporting any work-related
Injury at the Time of injury to the supervisor.
• Operates equipment in a safe manner — considering persons, buildings, or other
equipment that might be endangered or damaged because of negligence.
Minor Responsibilities 10%
• Loads used barrels on trailer and placing load lock on trailer
• Participates in the "leak hunting" - function of designated barrels
• Repairs leaks in barrels, using cedar pegs/hammer
• Secures samples from designated barrels. A small hole will be drilled in the barrel,
sample taken and the hole repaired with a cedar peg/hammer. Identification &
warning labels will then be placed on the sample bottle.
• Stages barrels for private tastings and tours
• Perform janitorial duties as needed.
• Performs ground maintenance; i.e., mow and trim grass, mend/build/paint, fences,
repair roadways
• Attends safety meetings
• Wears proper safety equipment as required.
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience
• Must be at least 21 years of age
• High School Diploma or GED
• 1 year of manufacturing experience
• Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, percentages)
• Must be able to work outdoors subject to inclement weather (heat/ cold) year round.
• Valid driver’s license

Preferred Education and Experience
• 1 year of Bourbon industry experience
• Have basic mechanical skills

The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently push and maneuver up to 500-pound barrels from one location to another. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 40 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
