DIRECTOR OF NURSING

Position Summary

The Director of Nursing (DON) manages and directs the day-to-day functions of nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures, and practices that are in compliance with Federal, State, and Local Regulations. The DON demonstrates knowledge of the resident’s physical, social, emotional, and psychological needs based on the health care required.

Essential Job Duties

  • This position is a Safety Sensitive Position. The essential functions, physical demands, and mental competencies of this job require the employee to maintain the ability to work in a constant state of alertness in a safe manner.
  • Become well-versed in and ensuring the Facility’s compliance with all aspects of Assisted Living II Rules and Regulations. Designs and implements procedures and programs that ensure regulation compliance. Including compliance with all applicable laws in accordance with the position as Director of Nursing.
  • Must be able to demonstrate the ability to effectively direct, lead and develop the Fox Ridge nursing team, including the ability to perform employee coaching, counseling, evaluations, and maintaining a high level of accountability for all nursing employees.
  • Provide job orientation and in-service training to all employees that are focused on the developmental, behavioral, and health needs of the residents. Review training at least annually and makes modifications as needed.
  • Oversee the delivery of assistance, training, and personal care services.
  • Ensure appropriate review, interpretation, and analysis of records and reports. Participate in the development of plans of correction and operational plans, as they relate to the operation of the program.
  • Develop and maintain documentation systems for continuity of care and record storage that assures compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and Fox Ridge policies and procedures. Assure all forms and records are completed in a timely manner.
  • Plan, develop and implement procedures and policies that enhance the quality of life for people receiving services and assure procedures that support people managing their own health care.
  • Provide leadership to assure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and nursing practice standards.
  • Provide effective and efficient budget management that assures the best utilization of resources, focusing on nursing expenses, including nursing labor and supply expenses.

  • Must have a clear understanding of the needs, desires, and culture of the Fox Ridge resident population.
  • Manage other employees and be responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these employees.

Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school
  • Current Arkansas LPN or RN license in good standing.
  • Three years of LPN experience plus one-year supervisory experience
  • Must meet all healthcare requirements, including Tuberculosis skin test
  • Must be in positive standing with all healthcare agencies, including the Employment Clearance Registry and Adult Maltreatment Registry

Mental Demands:
Work requires adherence to precise procedures and standards involving a high degree of accuracy in observing, recording, and reporting data. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate and exchange information accurately.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the workplace.

This position is very active and requires frequent standing/walking, bending/stooping, lifting/handling, pushing/pulling, and occasional carrying. The employee must frequently lift or move objects and patients weighing over 50 pounds and the frequency of treatments may vary from resident to resident. Occasionally the feet and legs are used in the motion to release and lock the brakes of wheelchairs and beds.
