Position Summary
The Chef is responsible for leading the dietary department in client satisfaction with food quality and meal service for the Fox Ridge facility. The Chef will be responsible for developing effective working relationships with staff while planning, ordering, organizing, controlling and performing food service functions. The Chef will ensure that all food staff members maintain compliance with food preparation laws and codes.
Essential Job Duties
- This position is a Safety Sensitive Position. The essential functions, physical demands and mental competencies of this job require the employee maintain the ability to work in a constant state of alertness in a safe manner.
- Responsible for food preparation at assigned facility.
- Responsible for direct supervision and training of dietary and dining employees.
- Ensures the staff is familiar with company policies, procedures, practices and activities, as well as state and local food preparation regulations.
- Orders and maintains adequate supplies of food and janitorial products within limits of a set budget.
- Ensures proper equipment operation/maintenance, proper safety and sanitation policies for the dietary work areas.
- Correctly prepares food served at assigned facility following standard recipes and special diet orders.
- Plans food production to coordinate with meal serving hours so that excellence, quality, temperature, and appearance of food is preserved.
- Manages food storage, ensuring proper refrigeration and inventory control.
- Maintain daily production records.
- Keep work area neat and clean at all times; clean and maintain equipment used in food preparation.
- Communicates and interacts effectively and tactfully with the residents, visitors, families, peers and supervisors promoting a homelike environment.

Qualifications:
- High school diploma or general education diploma (GED) is required.
- Bachelor’s degree with major concentration in food preparation, management, nutrition or related field or equivalent culinary degree preferred.
- 5 years of experience in the food industry preferred.
- Must meet all healthcare requirements, including Tuberculosis skin test
- Must be in positive standing with all healthcare agencies, including the Employment Clearance Registry and Adult Maltreatment Registry
Mental Demands:
Work requires adherence to precise procedures and standards involving a high degree of accuracy in observing, recording and reporting data. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate and exchange information accurately.

This position is very actives and requires constant standing/walking and repetitive motions, frequent bending/stooping, reaching, lifting/handling, pushing/pulling and occasional carrying. The employee must frequently lift or move objects weighing up to 100 pounds and the frequency of treatments may vary.
