Controller

Summary:

The Controller manages the accounting department functions, ensures financial statements follow GAAP and ensures that adequate controls exist to safeguard the assets of the company.

RESPONSIBILITES:

• Manage department staff and operations
  • Manage all accounting operations including A/R, A/P, Cash Management, General Accounting, Fixed Assets and Payroll
  • Supervises Accounts Payable Manager, Accounts Receivable Manager and Payroll/Benefits Manager
• Manage department reporting, budgeting, and compliance
  • Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements in compliance with GAAP
  • Research and report on variances to budget and prior periods
  • Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts
  • Manage month-end and year-end close process
  • Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting
  • Oversees and reviews G/L account reconciliations and completes more complex reconciliations
  • Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
  • Research technical accounting issues for compliance.
  • Serve as liaison for annual financial audit and manage compilation of schedules and reports to ensure the timely completion of audited financial statements
• Create, implement, and maintain policies and processes
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls, and to safeguard the company’s assets

QUALIFICATIONS:

• BS degree in accounting or related field
• MBA or MS degree in accounting a plus
• CPA or CMA preferred
• 10 years’ experience in accounting and/or finance
• 5 years’ experience managing staff
• 3 years’ experience as a financial controller or 5 years’ experience as an assistant controller or accounting manager
• Experience with creating financial statements
• Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year end close process
• Experience with accounting and ERP software
• Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
• Experience with implementation of ERP system a plus
• Experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis preferred
