Summary:
The Controller manages the accounting department functions, ensures financial statements follow GAAP and ensures that adequate controls exist to safeguard the assets of the company.
RESPONSIBILITES:
- Manage department staff and operations
- Manage all accounting operations including A/R, A/P, Cash Management, General Accounting, Fixed Assets and Payroll
- Supervises Accounts Payable Manager, Accounts Receivable Manager and Payroll/Benefits Manager
- Manage department reporting, budgeting, and compliance
- Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements in compliance with GAAP
- Research and report on variances to budget and prior periods
- Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts
- Manage month-end and year-end close process
- Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting
- Oversees and reviews G/L account reconciliations and completes more complex reconciliations
- Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
- Research technical accounting issues for compliance.
- Serve as liaison for annual financial audit and manage compilation of schedules and reports to ensure the timely completion of audited financial statements
- Create, implement, and maintain policies and processes
- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls, and to safeguard the company’s assets
QUALIFICATIONS:
- BS degree in accounting or related field
- MBA or MS degree in accounting a plus
- CPA or CMA preferred
- 10 years’ experience in accounting and/or finance
- 5 years’ experience managing staff
- 3 years’ experience as a financial controller or 5 years’ experience as an assistant controller or accounting manager
- Experience with creating financial statements
- Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year end close process
- Experience with accounting and ERP software
- Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
- Experience with implementation of ERP system a plus
- Experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis preferred
Salary : $115,000 - $146,000
