Cost Accountant

Roles & Responsibilities

● Provide critical data on business operations and metrics for operational improvements

○ Analyze fleet assignments of drivers for consistency and monitor profitability of fleets weekly

○ Review asset utilization for mileage, revenue, and geographic assignment to ensure optimal

efficiency

○ Present financial metrics for success with business leaders effectively focusing on critical areas

of improvement and present solutions

○ Encourage outside of the box thinking from personnel to drive process improvement

○ Review various data systems to ensure data is entered correctly and in alignment with the

need to ensure proper costing/analysis

○ Work closely with the controller to align office functions with financial data collection and

analysis

● Ad-hoc projects assigned by Controller or CFO

● Other duties

○ Assemble costing data for equipment maintenance by year and equipment type and provide

trends

○ Analyze fuel consumption by driver and tractor to tie in driver behavior to MPG performance

○ Review driver hiring programs and analyze effectiveness against planned results 

• Provide solutions that are data driven for driver turnover and suggest pay changes if

necessary

Skills & Qualifications

• Attention to detail required

• Ability to ask pertinent questions and review data analytically

• Ability to present financial data to management in a concise/direct way that can be understood

Education & Experience

• Bachelor degree in accounting from a 4 year school.

• 1-2 years experience in a costing or financial analyst role preferred
