POSITION SUMMARY:
As an NRO Trainer, you will be responsible for training new employees at our new restaurant locations.
In the role of NRO Trainer, you will be responsible for ensuring new employees consistently deliver a “WOW” guest experience by being friendly, personable, and genuinely caring that the guest visit exceeds expectations.
As an NRO Trainer, your primary responsibilities will be focused on training and overseeing or performing workstation activities that ensure excellent guest service, food quality/safety, and support to restaurant team members.
This position is a temporary exempt position assignment in Salt Lake City, UT, between May 1, 2023, to December 31, 2023. Selected staff will be hired for a specific time period between these dates. While on assignment, current non-exempt employees who are hired for this position will be exempt, full-time employees. Upon completion of this assignment, employees will resume their previous role and compensation.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
The NRO Trainer will be part of a team of trainers and managers that will be responsible for implementing effective operating and coaching programs at designated new restaurant locations.
- During the time on active assignment, applicants must be available to work a flexible schedule in accordance with the needs of the business. This will include scheduling across multiple day parts and include out-of-state travel.
- NRO Trainer will be spending the majority of time working on-site with team members and will require the ability to develop people.
- Candidates for this role need to be familiar with different learning styles and how to adapt and relate the information to the team.
Internal Service:
- The NRO Trainer will train new hires to demonstrate actions that support the Service Profit Chain (SPC), Internal Service Pledge, and My Promise to You.
- The NRO Trainer will help the new employee(s) to display a strong commitment to the restaurant team. They will support the restaurant environment with “employee friendly,” fun, clean, and safe initiatives. Motivating and inspiring employees to achieve a high level of performance while adhering to Company procedures.
- The NRO Trainer will communicate to management any potential issues/problems that may arise while training employees at the new location.
- The NRO Trainer MUST understand and utilize brand processes and tools; and comply with all state and federal labor regulations.
External Service:
- The NRO Trainer will lead by example in a “Guest comes first” attitude. They should have a friendly, enthusiastic, and positive personality.
- The NRO Trainer will train New Employee(s) to communicate clearly with guests and team members.
- The NRO Trainer will ensure New Employee(s) are meeting standards of timeliness, quality, and accuracy on all orders.
- The NRO Trainer will train New Employees(s) on how to handle guest complaints effectively using the C.A.R.E. Model – courtesy, apology, resolution, and extra effort.
- The NRO Trainer will help in a variety of opening restaurant tasks including but not limited to: stocking and organizing the restaurant location, local store marketing activities, and training of staff on Company specific systems.
Operating Workstations:
- The NRO Trainer will train all new employee(s) to follow JIB procedures and standards in performing all workstation activities.
Front of Restaurant (Dine In, Drive-Thru, Table-Service):
- The NRO Trainer will train new employee(s) in all front-of-restaurant tasks, including but not limited to: acknowledging and welcoming guests, taking orders, assisting guests in menu selection, using POS systems, and proper cash handling.
Back of Restaurant (Grill, Fryers, Prep, Assembly, Maintenance) :
- The NRO Trainer will help train new employee(s) on preparing, cooking, and assembling products in accordance with Company and food safety/quality procedures and standards. They will work to ensure only products of the highest quality are served to guests.
- The NRO Trainer will train new employee(s) on accurate order assembly, preparation, and speed. They will train and model workstation maintenance and cleanliness.
Job Requirements:
- Must be willing to travel out of state and abide by Company’s travel policies.
- Must be able and willing to work in all positions of the restaurant as needed.
- Must be available to work a flexible schedule as determined by the needs of the Company.

- Will require repetitive use of hands for grasping, pushing, pulling, and fine manipulation.
- Must be neat and professional.
- Must be able to bend and lift loads up to 50 lbs. Also, must be able to stoop to grasp objects and climb ladders. Bend and twist neck and waist, reach above and below shoulders, and squat.
- Must be able to push and pull carts weighing up to 100 pounds.
- Must be able to climb ladders and use box cutters.
- Environmental exposure to extreme temperatures (coolers, ovens, freezer, outdoors, etc).
- Must be able to properly use restaurant tools and equipment, which may include but are not limited to knives, personal protective equipment, hand trucks, carts, food cutters, and fryers (must be 18 years of age or older), power equipment, vehicles, and all other equipment used within or for the restaurant.
Qualifications:
Education
- High School Diploma/GED or foreign equivalent preferred.
Experience
- Internal Promote: Minimum of 12 months JIB Grill experience or 2 years supervisory experience in a customer service business; must be 100% certified in all workstations.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Must be at least 18 years old; must complete Team Leader training classes.
- Requires the ability to speak, read, and write effectively in English.
- Ability to perform and understand basic math concepts (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division);
- Ability to work well with diverse groups of people
- Have proven analytical skills; and good organization with planning skills.
- Be a self-starter who takes initiative and willingly accepts responsibility.
- Have a basic knowledge of personal computers and related software applications.
Physical Requirements – Ability to stand and walk approximately 90%-95% of shift; ability to lift and carry 10-65 lbs.; ability to move freely throughout the restaurant; ability to take guests’ orders, operate a cash register, and read video monitors; ability to work in a very fast-paced environment.
