Job Description
Job Title: Director of Transportation
Department: Transportation
Assignment: Supervisor to transportation staff; drivers (full-time and sub
drivers, mechanics, secretary and bus assistants.)
Supervised by: Executive Director of Operations
Terms of employment: 260 days per year
FLSA status: Salary/Exempt
Purpose: Oversee and coordinate all student routing to consist of, but not limited to; general corporation bus routes, Special Education including Preschool, St. Rose and Central Nine, summer school, and all special programs to include field trips and sporting events for all schools within the Franklin
Community School.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Responsible for the maintaining a full staff for the Transportation Department. a. Maintain employment job description for all positions. b. Maintain employment records for current employees to include vacation time, personal days, sick days and payroll information. c. Responsible for all interviews for employee replacements.
2. Responsible for all training and testing of all drivers and bus assistants.
3. Manages the scheduling, maintenance, operation, safety, acquisition, and disposal of the corporation fleet, ensuring compliance with all state and federal regulations, to include those governing training, drug audits, inspections, certification, and licensure of drivers; coordinates equipment maintenance and safety programs in accordance with regulatory and policy requirements.
4. Responsible for the scheduling and driver assignments of extra-circular trips and sporting events.
5. Assists in the annual budget planning process and regularly monitors expenditures.
6. Participates in decision of school delays and/or dismissal/cancellations.
7. Availability for contact whenever a school bus is on the road.
8. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Job Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED; College degree preferred
- Directly related management expertise to the duties and responsibilities specified with verified work experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
- Ability to work effectively with the general public.

- Ability to use independent judgment and to manage and impart confidential information.
- Records maintenance skills.

Pay: $57,500.00 - $90,000.00 per year
