Job Description
Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our dermatology clinic team. The Clinical Medical Assistant supports dermatology providers in patient care, assisting with procedures, patient education, and administrative tasks.
Essential Clinical Responsibilities:
1. Escort patients to exam rooms, gather chief complaints, review medical history, and medications.
2. Aid providers in biopsies and surgical procedures, such as excisions, cryo therapy, laser surgery, etc.
3. Educate patients on treatment plans and medication usage.
4. Perform nursing tasks like suture removal and dressing changes under the direction of provider supervision.
5. Capture photos of biopsy sites and document in the EMR system utilizing assigned iPad.
7. Maintain cleanliness and sterilization protocols adhering to all FDG protocols, Tennessee state laws and OSHA guidelines to maintain infection control.
7. Perform blood draws and adhere to medical assisting scope of practice.
Key Professional Responsibilities:
1. Work scheduled hours Monday - Friday between the hours of 7:15AM and 4:30PM. Hours may vary depending on practice needs.
2. Familiarity with FDG's approved abbreviations, anatomical diagrams, dermatologic terminology, and educational handouts.
3. Accurate and detailed clinical note scribing for providers while ensuring grammar, spelling, and punctuation are correct.
4. Assist with patient calls and scheduling during non-clinic times.
5. Respect patient and coworker privacy and follow HIPAA protocols.
Qualifications and Requirements:
1. National certification as a registered medical assistant (RMA) through AMT, or certified medical assistant (CMA) through AAMA or ACDT.
2. Current CPR certification and up-to-date health records with the appropriate immunizations to work in the health care field (hepatitis B, etc).
3. 1-2 years of recent medical office experience, with knowledge of medical terminology, CPT, and ICD-10 codes.
4. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, excellent communication, and interpersonal abilities.
5. Ability to stand, walk, and perform physical tasks for extended periods.
Working Conditions:
The Medical Assistant will primarily work in a fast-paced dermatology clinic requiring physical stamina and adherence to safety protocols. The role involves exposure to routine dermatological diseases and procedures, with occasional exposure to biohazards and communicable diseases.
