Franklin & Marshall College ("F&M") seeks a dynamic, student-centered professional for this opportunity. Reporting to the Assistant Dean for Student Life, the Associate Director will provide oversight and operational leadership for F&M's Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life, which engages over 20% of the entire student body and facilitates advisement, education, and engagement opportunities for the community.



Essential Functions:

  • Promote a vibrant Fraternity and Sorority community through advisement and support of the Panhellenic Council and Interfraternity Council, and a portfolio of 11 recognized fraternities and sororities with 400 affiliated students, including mentoring and guiding them on their activities, positions, membership recruitment activities, risk management, membership education, and leadership development.
  • Maintain strong relationships and regular communication with chapter advisers, advisory boards, alumni, and national headquarters, while also partnering with relevant stakeholders on matters of upkeep and maintenance of fraternity and sorority houses and other managed spaces.
  • Manage the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life's (the "Office's") website, communications and marketing, and budget which includes expenditures, reconciliation, and fiscal planning.
  • Prepare and produce reports, proposals, and recommendations in compliance with inter/national governance requirements, chapter standards, and relevant policies and best practices.
  • In collaboration with the Assistant Dean, develop and implement an assessment plan and programmatic goals that align with and advance the Office's, Division of Student Affairs and College's missions.
  • Develop and implement risk management, hazing education, conflict resolution, and problem-solving systems and strategies among students and constituent groups.
  • Coordinate campus-wide initiatives which foster awareness about and engagement in fraternity and sorority life, while fostering positive relationships with and serving as a resource for the Division of Student Affairs, faculty, staff, students, other internal and external stakeholders.
  • Develop and provide risk management, hazing education, conflict resolution and problem-solving strategies and training among students and constituent groups.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree required or equivalent experience preferred in Higher Education, Student Development, Student Affairs, or a related field
  • Master's degree in Higher Education, Student Development, Student Affairs, or a related field preferred
  • At least 1 years of facilitating and demonstrated knowledge of fraternity & sorority recruitment, education, reporting, program evaluation, and current fraternity & sorority life trends.
  • Experience creating a welcoming environment for diverse student populations and facilitating community development programming and initiatives.
  • Experience assuming programmatic, supervisory, and budgetary responsibilities.
  • Experience in creating partnerships with and working creatively and effectively with broad constituencies.
  • Willingness to maintain a flexible schedule as needed, to accommodate evening and weekend programs.
  • Familiarity and experience using Microsoft Office, Google Suite and social media platforms.

Because this position requires occasional driving for College business, the successful candidate must possess a U.S. or Canadian driver's license which has been valid for at least two years, have a driving record that is free from excessive motor vehicle violations within the last three years, and have had no convictions in the last 24 months for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
