The Global Client Programs Learning Design team is seeking an Instructional Designer to develop value-add programs for financial professionals across the globe.

The Instructional Designer will utilize a combination of established best practices and new, innovative ideas in the field of instructional design, to deliver exceptional learning experiences through live and live-virtual engagements, e-learning, video and other media.

This position will report to the Director, Investments Learning and collaborate closely with instructional designers, learning consultants as well as subject matter experts, partners and project stakeholders across the organization.

What is the Learning Design Team responsible for?

The Learning Design team is a global educational content production group responsible for creating and maintaining a comprehensive catalog of educational, value-add learning courses. We strive to provide value beyond investing to financial professionals so that they can provide superior service to their clients.

The group is also responsible for developing materials that support distribution and sales training, from onboarding to ongoing skill building across roles.

What are the ongoing responsibilities of an Instructional Designer?
  • Conduct learning assessments to determine the most effective learning activities and course designs that align with goals and objectives.

  • Project management: Plan, communicate, manage, monitor, and evaluate the scope, resources, and time parameters to achieve deliverables goals.

  • Design and develop learning materials on a variety of topics including investment themes, market knowledge, and practice management for financial professionals.

  • Design curricula for face-to-face and virtual learning sessions using creative, innovative, and evidence-based approaches; develops storyboards for e-learning and videos.

  • Work effectively with subject matter experts (SMEs) to contextualize and distill information and ideas into captivating, digestible learning materials.

  • Legal and compliance: Prepare materials as needed for routing and approval through required approvals channels.

What ideal qualifications, skills and experience would help someone to be successful?
  • 2-5 years' experience in content writing and design, instructional design, learning development, and/or adult education.

  • Experience developing value-add content for financial industry professionals highly recommended.

  • Bachelor's degree.

  • Degree or coursework in Education, Curriculum Design, Organizational Development, Adult Learning, Instructional Design, or related field, a plus.

  • Degree or experience in financial services, investments, asset management, a strong plus.

  • An ideal candidate will have experience working with an asset management, investment advisory, or banking firm.

  • Experience in designing and facilitating interactive learning experiences and designing curricula based on experiential learning, adult learning principles, and using blended learning and innovative learning technologies.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver quality, client focused results on schedule.

  • Experience writing or developing value-add materials for financial professionals.

  • Highly creative in presenting complex financial information.

  • Knowledge of and interest in global financial market economics a plus.

  • Ability to be flexible, adaptable and work in a fast-paced environment as a team player.

  • Proven ability to bring about change and manage processes.

  • Able to confidently engage with staff at all levels to define needs and expectations, collaborate on projects, and communicate results.

Compensation Range: Along with base compensation, other compensation is offered such as a discretionary bonus, 401k plan, health insurance, and other perks. There are several factors taken into consideration in making compensation decisions including but not limited to location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. At Franklin Templeton, we apply a total reward philosophy where all aspects of compensation and benefits are taken into consideration in determining compensation. We expect the salary for this position to range between $56,000 - $72,000.
