Job Summary
The Cleaner (part-time) ensures the cleanliness of the lunchroom and office buildings at Fraser Shipyards. The Cleaner performs assigned duties efficiently while maintaining a safe work environment.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for all basic cleaning in and around lunchroom or office buildings.
- Cleans floors and rooms. including dust mopping, damp mopping, sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, picking up larger objects off the floor, and spot cleaning glass and windows.
- Cleans restrooms, including restocking dispensers, emptying trash, cleaning and sanitizing fixtures, cleaning mirrors, spot cleaning partition doors and walls, sweeping and mopping tile floors, and cleaning toilets and urinals.
- Vacuums, empties trash, and replaces liners.
- Cleans lunchroom tables, microwaves, refrigerators, and other break room amenities.
- Wipe down stairway railings, window sills, wall mop-boards, edging, break rooms' walls as needed.
- Sets up, stocks, and maintains cleaning equipment and supplies.
- Monitors and maintains sanitation and organization of assigned areas.
- Transports dirty linens to correct area to be cleaned and restocks areas with clean linens.
- Empty recycle bins to outside container as needed.
- Performs additional duties as needed.
Required Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge of basic cleaning methods.
- Ability to work well with others.
- Knowledge of applicable safety precautions and safe work methods.
- Skill in organizing work responsibilities efficiently.
- Ability to use simple measuring device i.e., cup and pump.
- Ability to understand and interpret oral and written material and instructions.
- Ability to keep basic records and to fill out reports.
- Ability to maintain favorable courteous relations with fellow employees.
- Ability to maintain a neat and clean personal appearance.
- Ability to read, write, and use simple arithmetic.
- Ability to work various shifts, holidays and weekends as needed.
- Requires limited oversight.
Qualifications
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent preferred
- Previous cleaning experience a plus
- Valid driver's license
- Applicants are required to pass a pre-employment drug screen prior to employment start.
Physical requirements
Position requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, crawling, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity. Must be able to work in tight spaces and awkward positions for long periods of time. Must be able to conduct inside and outside work in all temperatures. Work in areas at times that are not environmentally controlled. Able to move/lift/pull/push 50 lbs. Exposed to housekeeping/cleaning agents/chemicals.
Salary : $15 - $17
