Math Teacher - Upper School

Fredericksburg Academy, the leading independent school in the Fredericksburg region, is seeking a full-time Upper School Math teacher beginning in August of 2024. Candidates should have a passion for supporting students to reach their full potential as students and citizens, a demonstrated desire for professional growth and a willingness to participate fully in the life of the school. Fredericksburg Academy provides students with the opportunity to prepare themselves for and apply to college in a demanding yet supportive environment while becoming independent learners within our challenging college-prep
curriculum. An ability to teach all the core Upper School math courses is preferred but not required. The current position covers Geometry, Calculus, and AP Calculus in grades 8 through 12. Fredericksburg Academy students bring a laptop or tablet to school each day, so a high level of technological proficiency and demonstrated use of technology within the learning environment is preferred. Additional responsibilities include serving as an advisor to approximately 8 to 10 students and supporting co-curricular activities (preferably through coaching one of our athletic teams at the MS or Varsity level, advising a leadership
group, or sponsoring a student-led club).

Requirements and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Math, Math Education, or similar area of study
• Demonstrated successful classroom teaching or similar field of work
