Position Overview
The Computer Operator I is responsible for monitoring all computer operations system jobs and ensuring the updates, files, and electronic transactions are processed accurately and timely for all core banking modules and 3rd parties for the appropriate shift. This includes monitoring scheduled incoming and outgoing files, addressing all error messages displayed on the operator’s terminal, escalating issues to the on call personnel or the core banking vendor, and communicating issues and workflow processes between shifts.
Role and Responsibilities
- Monitor computer system jobs, daily and nightly updates, and routine processes to ensure end of job completion
- Identifies immediately problems or errors to ensure quick resolution by correcting problems or immediately notifying supervisor, on call personnel, or vendor support
- Initiate and monitor tasks/updates on the IBM iSeries for daily, nightly, weekly, month and annual processes
- Updates processes and procedures when necessary
- Automation-Understands and can decypher file movement logic
- Automation-Understands and can decypher program/process workflows
- Monitor timely transmission and reception of scheduled files to and from various sources/vendors
- Process, archive and distribute notices and reports
- Responds to and monitors basic Service Desk requests
- Maintains Data Center daily activity logs including tracking work being performed
- Process, manage, and validate core banking system and 3rd party processes for archiving into the documents storage system
- Perform SCM user enables for end users as needed
- Assists with communication for application disruptions if necessary
- Has knowledge and awareness of departmental Operational Level Agreements (OLA’s) and OLA tracking
- Has Knowledge, awareness of departmental Service Level Agreements (SLA’s) and holds themselves accountable for tracking and measuring
- Provides documentation for regulatory audits
- Must be able to work overtime when necessary
- Perform related duties as assigned
Day Shift
- Receive, process, and balance the banks X9.37 Image files from various sources
- Process all ACH files as needed and ensure relevant communication if SLA’s are not met
- Works with department and branch staff to resolve check processing issues
- Performs third party statement processing
- Troubleshoots system and file integrity errors with core banking vendor
Swing Shift
- Receive, perform reject re-entry, and balance the banks X9.37 Image files from various sources
- Works with department and branch staff to resolve check processing issues
- Perform system backups tapes as needed
- Prepares backup tape logs as needed
Graveyard Shift
- Performs third party statement processing
- Perform system backups tapes as needed
- Prepares backup tape logs and ensures offsite delivery
- Troubleshoots system and file integrity errors with core banking vendor
- Validation of processes and applications to ensure systems are current and functioning as desired to meet departmental Service Level Agreements (SLA)
Minimum Qualifications
- AA degree in Computer Science or related experience
- 2 years Computer Operator or related experience
- Excellent Analytical skills
- Strong ability to work independently, follow written or verbal procedures, and meet deadlines
- Strong problem solving abilities
- Rigorous attention to detail and application of standards and process
- 2 years banking experience
- Knowledge of Fiserv Premier (ITI) software
- Proficient using the Microsoft Suite
- IBM iSeries Mainframe experience
