What are the responsibilities and job description for the Field Technician position at French & Parrello?
FPA is actively seeking a Construction Materials Testing Field Technician, who will observe the work being performed by contractors on construction sites and perform basic field soil, concrete, grout, and asphalt tests under the direct supervision of project managers to verify that the materials utilized are consistent with project specifications.
Job Requirements:
- At least some construction experience is required. Prior experience in field testing is preferred.
- A High School Diploma (or equivalent).
- Portable Nuclear Gauge Certified, ACI Grade I Certified, DCA or ICC certifications in the disciplines of soils, reinforced concrete, and masonry are a plus or must be able to obtain these certifications within a reasonable timeframe upon employment.
- Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine daily field reports.
- Must be able to walk and stand continuously throughout the day.
- Must be able to lift, carry, push and pull up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
- Requires a valid, clean driver’s license, as travel to job sites is required.
- Must continue to maintain a safe driving record and valid driver’s license to fulfill travel requirements of this position.
Responsibilities:
- The tasks that may be required to perform include, but are not limited to:
- Performing field materials testing of soil, concrete, grout, and asphalt and preparing reports of test results.
- Preparing detailed and complete field reports with all relevant test results and observations of the construction activity.
- Communicating with clients, contractors, and engineering and technical staff regarding construction issues which may arise
