Job Summary
The Project Manager is responsible for the effective management (organization, planning, execution, control and evaluation) of all aspects of their assigned projects. The Project Manager will develop and manage the cross functional project plans, ensuring milestones and goals are met. This individual will be responsible for project level financial management and planning. They will effectively collaborate with project governance boards, communicate project status to management and provide resolution of project issues.
Responsibilities
- Lean Six Sigma Methodology: Apply Lean Six Sigma principles and tools to improve operational productivity, reduce defects, and minimize variations in processes. Be able to apply tools such as value stream mapping, line balancing, pull systems, quick change-over, DMAIC, basic statistical analysis, Operating Equipment Efficiency (OEE) measurement, and visual controls.
- Process Analysis: Conduct analyses of existing processes, workflows, and systems to identify opportunities for improvement. Use data-driven insights, including data analytics and performance metrics, to assess process performance to proactively identify areas for enhancement in different departments and functions.
- Manage and Lead Continuous Improvement Projects : Manage approximately five to seven projects annually with low to medium complexity. Ensures that OpEx projects are analyzed, prioritized, and delivered using the appropriate Lean/Six Sigma methodologies within the Site (such as DMAIC, Process Controls, Statistical Analyses). Develop and implement improvement plans with clear objectives. Mentor and coach team members to use appropriate tools. Coordinate with affected departments and functions. Monitor the progress of plans, and manage the budgets for such plans, to assure timely action, appropriate management support, and achievement of expected benefits on time and within project budgets.
- Training and Education: Provide training, mentoring, coaching, and facilitation to employees at all levels to promote a culture of continuous learning and improvement and empower them with the tools and methodologies necessary to drive positive change. Develop, prepare and maintain training materials to support these activities. Formulate connections to share knowledge and best practices within the extended Fresenius-Kabi OpEx community.
- Performance Monitoring: Maintains the plant scorecard of critical metrics in performance. Provide ongoing communication, such as progress reports, to management on Continuous Improvement initiatives including accomplishments, participation, projected activities, and anticipated needs. Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the impact of process improvements. Regularly report on progress to management and relevant stakeholders.
- Innovation: Seek innovations to drive the elevation of operational excellence. Research industry best practices and benchmarks to identify opportunities for adopting innovative methods and technologies. Collaborate with other Operational Excellence Leaders across business units to establish standards and guidelines.
- Digitization and Technology: Collaborate with stakeholders to develop a comprehensive digitization strategy that aligns with the organization's goals. Identify key areas for digitization and automation to improve overall business performance. Research and evaluate digital tools, software, and technologies that can drive process automation and optimization. Lead the implementation of selected solutions and provide necessary training and support to ensure successful adoption. Initiates and maintains reporting relationships with team members, senior management, and other affected departments to coordinate efforts across multiple business functions as well as technical groups, and ensure continuous, efficient management of overall project.
Requirements:
- B.S. degree in a technical discipline, preferably Life Sciences, Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent technical experience required
- 5 years’ experience of pharmaceutical, life science, medical device, or other manufacturing within a cGMP environment required. Broad understanding of manufacturing processes and systems desirable
- Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification or equivalent experience required.
- 5 years’ experience successfully leading continuous improvement projects and delivering tangible results required. Demonstrated strong root cause and corrective action skills are a plus.
- Must be able to prioritize and work independently, manage situations of responsibility without direct authority by leading and coaching teams to drive projects forward. Excellent written and verbal communication skills to interact with all levels of the organization and manage project teams in a dynamic environment
