Safety Coordinator
The Safety Coordinator helps improve the overall safety of the workplace. Their duties include accessing safety, enforcing safety standards and educating employees. Further duties include documentation and training, assessing the skills of the employees and delivering training needs, as well as managing the intake, handling and storage of documentation for the organization.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Safety:
- COMPANY SAFETY CHAMPION!!
- Respond to all work related injuries
- Transport injured employees to appropriate medical facility
- Complete all required paperwork for injuries
- Supports a plant culture that places a high value on workplace safety
- Lead Safety Committee Team
- Facilitates and maintains records of the Safety Committee meetings
- Manages training log and communicates with applicable parties for upcoming trainings
- Develops and facilitates safety trainings
- Coordinate with vendors to provide trainings to employees as needed
- Creates and implements policies and procedures related to Safety
- Follows up with employees on daily Safety Minutes to check knowledge of topic
- Collects Safety Stops and adds to Pareto in queue
- Analyze Safety Stop Data to help drive improvements
- Facilitates and maintains records of Root Cause Analysis (RCA) meetings
- Escalates to President for any open RCA over 60 days
- Check is all the employees are acting in adherence with rules and policies
- Enforces preventative measures
- Evaluates the effectiveness of safety programs
- Recommend corrective actions as necessary
Documentation:
- Design templates for documents, file types, and document databases
- Check and edit documents for accuracy and compliance
- Provide administrative support in writing Job Safety Analysis (JSA’s) or other documents
- Collaborate with departments to develop work procedures, JSAs and other documents to support accurate job training
- Report errors or developments regarding document storage
- Update and maintain document management systems and physical records
- Assist employees with accessing documents as needed
This role may require some off hours work or extended hours depending on situation.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- An associates degree in Training, Safety or a related field preferred
- Bilingual (English and Spanish) required
- 1 years of relevant experience
- Prior manufacturing environment experience preferred
- Ability to deliver a training class
- A strong bias to action including taking the initiative to correct or escalate safety issues
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Authorized to work in the United States
Characteristics:
- Detail-focused document organizing abilities
- Familiarity with the relevant regulations regarding document keeping and handling
- Able to proactively manage database changes using software management systems
- Time-oriented approach to handling queries and tasks
- Highly organized and process focused, able to clearly prioritize and effectively manage multiple tasks and projects and implement sustainable processes
- Ability to convey complex information in an understandable way
- Extensive knowledge of various teaching methods
