Basic Functions:
To coordinate community efforts to and respond to child abuse and neglect per our state mandate (WIC 18980) as the designated child abuse prevention council for Fresno County. Must possess a true commitment to child abuse primary prevention and be self motivated to bring innovative ideas to the prevention education programming and public campaign for April – National Child Abuse Prevention Month. Public speaking skills or ability required. Capacity to thrive in a dynamic work environment. Bilingual – Spanish Speaking preferred.
Duties and Responsibilities:
75% Facilitate presentations in the community for professionals that work with children and for parent groups on child abuse issues and mandated reporting laws. Maintain and coordinate existing prevention programs such as Mandated Reporter Training, Impact of Violence on Children, ACEs, Substance Exposure & Maltreatment, Shaken Baby Syndrome, Internet Safety Risks, Stewards of Children Child Sexual Abuse Prevention and Quarterly Child Abuse Prevention Roundtable Sessions. Trainings for children are Talking About Touching and Internet Safety Risks. Responsible for scheduling and invoicing for trainings and community calendar coordination for collaboration with other agencies. Maintenance of other services include information & referral process, agency website maintenance & community booth service. Maintain and prepare statistical data for monthly and quarterly reports to Dept. of Social Services and the FCCAP Board of Directors. Also Annual Report for the Fresno County Board of Supervisors.
20% Initiate, advise and update the production of new or existing educational materials. Inventory and ordering of current and new training materials and brochures, continuous development of educational presentations to reflect current child abuse laws and trends. Advise in development of new prevention programs and materials. Assist with grant-writing for new & existing programs. Train, supervise and monitor part-time educator position and volunteers. Represent FCCAP at community meetings as needed to assist Executive Director.
5% Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent, Bachelors degree with emphasis in child development, public health, psychology, social services or related field preferable, Spanish speaking preferred
Experience: 1 year of public speaking. 1 year of supervisory experience preferred. Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, Power Point, Outlook and Google Calendar. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Special Requirements: MDRT Certificate. Knowledge of child abuse issues and laws. Must be able to work with and relate to people of different backgrounds and cultures. Must possess valid driver’s license and automobile insurance as required by law. Must pass state fingerprint clearance.
Salary Range: FT – 30 to 40 hours/week. $22 to $35 per hour starting rate depending on experience. Annual raises based on performance. Mileage reimbursement for travel.
