Description of Position
Under the direct supervision of the Head of Service, the Mental Health Rehabilitation Specialist (MHRS) is responsible for providing therapeutic behavioral interventions and replacement skill-building strategies for clients, assisting as a mental health worker, and intensive home-based services within Fresno Youth Care Homes Inc. The MHRS will partner with child and family team to achieve and maintain the goals as defined in the treatment plan and are responsible for daily progress notes and other required documentation.

Required Skills & Knowledge
o Capable of supervising and counseling clients in the child care program as well as able to establish rapport with persons of differing ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds
o Must have good oral and written communication skills to engage and develop rapport with youth with various backgrounds
o Ability to maintain visual and auditory observation of client behaviors/actions; providing consistency and behavioral limits through relationship-based interventions.
o Demonstrate consistent initiative in providing services
o Ability to work in a frequently hostile, unpredictable and unpleasant environment with a high degree of maturity, integrity, emotional stability and good judgment
o Efficient technological capabilities and written communication skills for daily recordings
Duties & Essential Functions
This list is neither inclusive nor exclusive, but indicative of several functions and duties performed:
o Provide therapeutic behavioral interventions and replacement skill-building strategies to clients Work with client and families to achieve and maintain goals as defined in TBS treatment plan
o Billable services include Assessment, Collateral, Rehabilitation/Behavior Coaching, Plan Development, and documentation of service
o Coordinate schedule with client house team
o Report plans and services as current
o Meet all confidentiality and mandated reporter guidelines for STRTP and Group Home services
o Be available to attend case conferences, staff meetings, team meetings, and IEPs as needed
o Complete all paperwork, Monthly Progress reports, required FYCH and county trainings
o Translate as required to serve population needs;
o Attend team meetings and work-related trainings and meetings as required;
o Additional duties that may be necessary to ensure the needs of the youth are met.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
o Must be at least 21 years of age
o Meet one of the following qualifications:
- A bachelor’s of arts or sciences degree and 4 or more years of full-time experience in the Mental Health field
- Master’s Degree of Arts or Sciences in a related field and Two or more years of full-time experience in the Mental Health field
(Experience shall be verified as having been performed as a paid or volunteer staff person whose duties required direct supervision and care of the population served; including lived familiarity.)
o Two years’ experience in a group home or short-term residential therapeutic program performing those duties specified in Section 87065.2(c). Prior to assuming the duties and responsibilities of the position, the individual shall complete a minimum of one hour of training as specified in Section 87065.1(a), in addition to the training required in Sections 87065.1(c) and (d).
o High School Diploma or GED
o Possess and maintain a valid California driver’s license without restrictions
o Criminal record/Child Abuse Background Clearance
o Physical Exam/TB test
o Current First Aid and CPR certification

Due to the recent group home licensing transitions to Short-Term Residential Therapeutic Programs, the final details of this offer, such as compensation and start date, are contingent upon final approvals and certification.
