The Automation Engineer is responsible for the successful operation of the electrical system for the custom build machinery. Must have proven experience in PLC logic programming and HMI systems programming. Automation Engineer must have a solid understanding of computer programming and software developments to execute machinery movements.
Job Responsibilities
Participate in Automation Engineering projects for the design and implementation of automation systems for sugar industry projects.
Collaborate with corporate international Automation engineering team
The Automation Engineer will be responsible for building new and support of existing PLC and HMI systems.
Ability to prioritize well, communicate clearly, have a consistent track record of delivery and excellent software engineering skills. Creative engineering balanced with high quality and a customer focus.
Provides technical and automation support to customers and internal operations.
Manages implementation of software/hardware changes and upgrades.
Attend and support site surveys, Factory Acceptance Test (FAT’s),Site Acceptance Test (SAT’s) and commissioning activities for delivered systems.
Must be able to work across multiple facets of the project and prioritize multiple responsibilities at the same time.
Strong analytic capability and the ability to create innovative solutions.
Travel expected to customer locations for project implementation (10-25%).
Performs other tasks as directed.
Qualifications
Must have between 5- and 15-years’ Automation experience.
Hands-on experience with PLC and PC-based platforms (Allen Bradley PLC, Siemens or Beckhoff, etc.)
Experience in Distributed Control Systems (DCS) systems a plus
Demonstrated proficient knowledge of the principles of relational databases, application interfaces, and Human Machine Interface design and implementation.
Proficient knowledge of P&IDs and instrumentation/control equipment.
Knowledge of MS Office applications (Excel, Word, Access, MS Teams, etc.).
