Job Summary:
The Assistant Food Service Manager works to support the success and profitability of the store. They are responsible for leading the day-to-day operations of the Deli in the absence of the Food Service Manager. They hold a crucial role because they provide leadership and guidance and enforce standards and policies for store personnel when Management is away from the store. The Assistant Food Service Manager is responsible for supporting the Food Service Manager in leading, facilitating and completing all store level tasks including food preparation, serving, food presentation, cash register duties, customer service, cleaning and all other related functions. The Assistant Food Service Manager ensures an exceptional customer experience by ensuring and demonstrating world class customer service.
Essential Functions
· Smile and greet customers in a friendly manner as they enter the store. Provide a fast, friendly and enjoyable experience for all customers. Respond to and resolve customer requests or complaints in a timely and efficient manner. Engage each customer genuinely and thank them for their business.
· Operate a cash register adhering to all Company policies and standards. Maintain proper cash levels and follow all cash handling and shift change processes and procedures to ensure no cash shortages occur.
· Supervise the day-to-day task assignments and performance for all team members. Ensure Food Service workers have the tools, equipment, and supplies necessary to perform their jobs.
· Take customer orders; cook and prepare food items as necessary. Serve food in correct portions.
· Adhere to all policy, health code, and safety regulations for the service, preparation, and storage of food.
· Maintain proper stock levels for all serving, kitchen, dining, food preparation and condiment areas. Ensure the Food Service Manager is aware of any stock or supply shortages.
· Adhere to the execution of established safety and security policies and procedures. Ensure all safety equipment is available and being used properly. Inform the Food service Manager of any malfunctions, safety concerns or needs.
· When necessary, assist with ordering food, paper goods, and supplies from approved vendors.
· Ensure time/temperature rotations are adhered to. Ensure proper cooking and holding temperatures for prepared food items are followed.
· Practices, enforces and maintains safe food handling procedures at all times.
· Ensures the availability and quality of hot bar/warmer items and prepared food at all times
· Adhere to and enforce federal and state laws, and company policy regarding the sale of alcohol, tobacco, lottery and all other age restricted products.
· Ensure the proper execution of assigned foodservice programs and procedures. Assure fresh, quality food, hot coffee and beverages are available at all times.
· Follow and enforce Friendly Express uniform, appearance, and dress code policies.
· Adhere to and enforce the execution of established safety and security policies and procedures
· Ensure the proper execution of all assigned deli and store level marketing programs.
· Suggestively sell promotions, food and beverage specials and Friendly Express loyalty programs.
· Communicate with the Food Service Manager regarding customer requests or complaints and any vendor related concerns. Report all theft and any suspected shoplifting.
· Check in external and internal vendors according to standards and procedures.
· Follow and enforce all company policies, procedures, and quality standards.
· Assume other duties and responsibilities as assigned to accommodate store operational needs.
· Lead by example with a sense of urgency and purpose, treating others with a positive and respectful attitude.
· Represent the Friendly Express brand by exemplifying Friendly Express core values.
Qualifications:
· Must be at least 18 years of age to be considered for this position.
· Must be able to operate and maintain food service equipment, i.e. oven, range, grill, hot case, warmers, knives etc.
· Must be willing to study for and pass the Food Service Protection Manager course.
· Basic language and mathematical skills.
· Ability to Multi-task, perform repeated bending, reaching, prolonged standing, and be able to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
· Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
· Ability to work 40 hours per week. Willingness and availability to work to work all shifts, weekends and holidays as required by the needs of the business.
· Must be able to reliably report to work on time, as scheduled.
· Must be responsible, dependable, and acceptable to change.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week
