Description

  • Supervises all aspects of the residence operations, in accordance with COMAR 10:22 regulations. Serves as a resource to house supervisors regarding shaping staffs professional behaviors (coaching, mentoring, counseling, discipline). Guides house supervisors in maintenance of the homes (Internal monitoring, maintenance/facilities requests, major property repair). Assists in solving transportation issues when vehicle repairs are needed.
  • Ensures the development and execution of Person Centered Plan, Behavior Plan, (when indicated), goals, and services are carried out according to the Plan(s) and all documentation of such (inclusive of medical, personal, goals, etc.) is complete in the Individuals files (computerized and written); completes regular reviews to monitor progress and to prepare for annual PCP Meetings.
  • Active role as Designated Program Coordinator for each Individual assigned inclusive of the arrangement of evaluations, convenes the appropriate team members as per the PCP, compiles the minutes, outcomes, goals and services into an easily understood plan.
  • Assists with any new, or modifications to DDA Service Funding Plans, as well as One Time Only requests for additional funding.
  • Ensures any restriction of an Individuals rights is necessary and that the least restrictive alternative has been approved by the Individual, guardian (if applicable), the planning team and the Standing Committee for Restriction Review.
  • Remains abreast of new developments, legislation, and regulations in the field of Developmental Disabilities.
  • Maintains constant communication with the Individual and their families along with the Registered Nurse, Residential Director, direct care staff, Service Coordination and any other designated external agencies.
  • Respects and advocates for each persons rights, dignity, and privacy.
  • Empowers each Individual to express their choices, while educating them about social responsibilities.
  • Ensures that all health needs of Individuals are met and that the proper documentation of all is maintained and up-to-date including, but not limited to, Medical Files (computerized and/or written), IP, General, and Inactive Files. Tracking and approval of the Individual Plan(s)/Person Centered Plan (PCP) reviews and care plans for caseload including review of files to ensure completion of proper follow-up of scheduled appointments, etc.
  • File- if warranted, reviews, and monitors Incident Reports for each Individual and ensures that the appropriate corrective measures are achieved. Completes all DDA mandated documentation to finalize the Incident Reporting requirements.
  • Actively participates in all inspections conducted by DDA, the Office of Healthcare Quality and Licensing, OSHA and other external governing agencies.
  • Oversees adherence to changes as developed in Plans of Correction.
  • Seeks sources of non-traditional funding which would directly benefit the Individual including applications for Federal Medicaid Waiver funding for adaptive equipment or environmental modifications, medical assistance, food supplemental assistance as needed. Assists individuals to apply for available resources such as Food Stamps, Energy Assistance, Medical Assistance renewal, etc.
  • Ensures Individuals funds and personal property are handled properly and accounted for according to policy. Supervises and ensures Individuals funds and personal property are handled properly and accounted for according to policy including residential budget/purchases/petty cash.
  • Responds to and investigates any inquiries from the Finance Department regarding individual funds, agency purchases and/or petty cash transactions.
  • Responsible for monitoring each residence fiscal budget as per Financial Statements.
  • Observes staff while in the residence and counsels on the appropriate interaction or training methods as needed.
  • As needed, oversees and assists direct care staff and individuals utilizing Personal Support services to obtain and maintain individual checking/savings accounts, as needed, ensuring their bank balance is within the allowed guidelines as per external governing agencies.
  • Evaluates cause of all injuries resulting in Workers Compensation claims, and the details of all injuries, to determine if additional training may be warranted or if environmental changes are needed as per the agencys Safety Policy and Safety Plan.
  • Supervises, trains, counsels and meets regularly with all Residential Counselors and Community Support Counselors.
  • Attends monthly supervisory and managers meetings.
  • When appropriate, meets with staff and determines if reasonable suspicion drug testing is warranted including escorting staff to the testing site.
  • Assists Residential Director with the interviewing process of all applicants.
  • Ensures the accuracy of all support staff hours submitted for payroll processing by comparison of timesheets with schedules and makes any appropriate changes as deemed necessary.

  • Responsible for ensuring that all staff ratios are in accordance with the IP/PCP.
  • Meets regularly with Residential Director.

  • Attends mandatory trainings as defined in Comar 10.22.01.11.
  • Shares responsibility, as part of the Residential Management team, for on-call duties.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

 

Qualifications


Preference given to those with experience in the field of developmental disabilities

 

  • Bachelors Degree from an accredited university or college in Human Services or related field. Education may be substituted with evidence of successful work experience paralleling the major duties of this position; with one year of experience being the equivalent to one year of full-time course work from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of one year of supervisory experience.
  • Preference given to those with experience in the field of developmental disabilities, three-(3) or more years of experience preferred.
