Position Overview:
The Residential Director (RD) assumes responsibility for the strategic direction, leadership, and oversight of all elements of Friends of Cyrus (FOC) residential operations in an effort to ensure a
quality experience for individuals served. The RD facilitates the development and delivery of residential programs and services designed to meet the development timelines of the organization while ensuring all programs meet Department of Human Services (DHS) Licensing standards. The RD serves as an integral member of FOC’s leadership team. The RD assumes responsibility for opening all new residential programs to include preplacement meetings, inspections and maintaining direct oversight of each program for thirty days after full occupancy is met. The RD performs all duties in support of the organization’s mission, understanding that the positive and effective execution of these duties are instrumental to successfully support FOC’s individuals and staff. The RD may need to provide services on call at irregular hours, including nights and weekends, to respond to emergencies Key Responsibilities:
1) Provides strategic and innovative leadership in the development and implementation of a comprehensive residential program focused on fostering an inclusive experience, with a strong emphasis on enhancing community, sense of belonging, health and wellness, personal responsibility and health and safety.
2) Handles highly confidential matters with diplomacy and tact, while safeguarding the interests and well-being of the community.
3) Directs and oversees the management and development of a Residential Team of directors, managers, and direct support staff members.
4) Determines staff priorities and coordinates work assignments in an effort to support consistent and effective operations, and deliver exceptional customer service.
5) Develops a comprehensive departmental assessment and evaluation plan for all related programs and services; continuously monitors and evaluates effectiveness and efficiency and makes adjustments accordingly.
6) Establishes, cultivates and maintains effective working relationships with internal constituencies in order to implement, evaluate and maintain effective processes and controls.
7) Collaborates with recruitment, training, and other divisions to develop high-impact practices that support admissions, housing occupancy, and build an exemplary residential program. 8) Represents the department on various committees both internally and externally as necessary and appropriate.
Qualifications:
The RD must be 18 years of age and older. The RD must have at least three-year’s experience in a leadership position in an organization that provides services to individuals with intellectual
and/or developmental disabilities in a residential setting. This experience is to include at least one year of training and supervising Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) and Group Home Managers. Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
Requirements:
1. The RD must have reliable transportation to and from work
2. The RD must submit to a criminal background check and be determined to be not disqualified by the Department of Human Services, prior to working with individuals receiving services.
3. The RD must agree to have their name checked against the Central Registry of Offenders Against Individuals with Developmental Disabilities.
4. All employees, if hired after 6/15/18, shall submit to drug testing prior to employment. All employees shall submit to drug testing conducted randomly and for cause.
5. All employees hired after 7/16/18 shall complete an application to have their names checked against Child Abuse Record Information (CARI).
6. The RD must have a current Driver’s License, valid in the state of New Jersey.
7. The RD must demonstrate successful completion and demonstrate proficiency in all scheduled pre-service training, at time of hire and/or within 90 days of employment.
8. The RD must submit to a baseline Mantoux at the time of hire. Per the OOL information bulletin, “Any staff member with a baseline positive or newly positive test result for M. Tuberculosis infection, or documentation of treatment for latent TB infection or TB disease, shall provide documentation of a medical evaluation, to include one chest x-ray result to rule out pulmonary TB disease. Repeat x-rays are not needed unless signs and symptoms of TB disease develops or unless it is recommended by a clinician.”
9. The RD must complete training in Stephen Komninos Law on CDS prior to working with individuals receiving services.
10. The RD must complete training in Danielle’s Law prior to working with individuals receiving services.

Responsibilities:
1. To ensure the safety and well-being of each individual under the guidance of FOC.

3. To participate in the development and implementation of skill acquisition programs for each individual under the guidance of FOC.
4. To participate in the development of Individualized Service Plan (ISP) outcomes and strategies for each individual under the guidance of FOC.
5. The RD must successfully complete and demonstrate proficiency in all areas of required training.
6. The RD will attend all scheduled ISP when his/her attendance is necessary.
7. To treat each individual with dignity and respect at all times.
8. The RD will be required to cooperate with the licensee, Department of Human Service (DHS) staff in any inspection, inquiry or investigation. The RD must also work in collaboration with FOC’s internal investigators.
9. To ensure the safety and well-being of each individual. To be aware of and practice the agency philosophy and policies and procedures while supporting all individuals.
10. At all times, to maintain the confidentiality of all the individuals under the guidance of FOC.
11. At all times, to adhere to FOC policies and procedures.

14. The RD is to successfully complete and demonstrate proficiency in all trainings that are mandated by both the Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) and those that are specific to FOC. The RD is required to know and actively practice all procedures as dictated by the information received in these training modules.
15. The RD will adhere to FOC’s policy on handling Life Threatening Emergencies. This policy adheres to Division Circular # 14 for Reporting Unusual Incidents.
16. The RD will adhere to the requirements of Danielle’s Law to call 911 in the event of life threatening emergencies.
17. The RD will adhere to the requirements of Stephen Komninos’ Law and work directly with Administration to ensure notifications are made within the appropriate time frames.
18. The RD will participate in any fact-finding investigation that involves the allegations or suspicions of abuse, neglect or exploitation of any individuals receiving services under the guidance of FOC. This protocol was established under Division Circular #15 entitled Compliant Investigations in Community Programs.
19. The RD will exercise due diligence in concert with the DSPs, Directors, Administration, etc. to prevent and detect misconduct and wrongdoing. You must undertake all reasonable steps to respond appropriately when an offense is detected to prevent future or similar offenses.
20. The RD must notify Human Resources or the Vice President of Adult Services within twenty-four hours of any arrest, police involvement, loss of driving privileges and/or if notified that their name was placed on the Department of Human Services (DHS) Central Registry of Offenders list.
21. The RD must adhere to the protocols established in regard to preventing violence in the workplace by adhering to the written parameters set forth in the policy.
22. The RD may be transferred to a different site, within the organization, at any time. If the RD refuses to comply with the reassignment they can be automatically terminated from their position.
23. Assist in coordinating the smooth efficient blending of services for all individuals, and programs.
24. The RD will inform Human Resources with any address, email or telephone number changes.
