JOB TITLE: Accountant
SUMMARY:
Responsible for maintaining financial records related to the general ledger, journals, financial reports, grant reports, bank accounts, and contracts.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting required.
Licensure: N/A
Certification: N/A
Experience: Experience in health care finance and supervision preferred.
Knowledge/Skills: Knowledgeable of IRS regulations and acceptable accounting practices.
Skilled in use of all major computer applications.
Verbal/written communication skills.
EQUIPMENT:
Computer, copier, fax, and any other equipment required to perform the functions of
this position.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Assures that corporate policies and procedures relating to respective departments are followed. Identifies problems and makes recommendations to policies and procedures as needed to Senior Accountant or Accounting Manager.
2. Compiles information needed to prepare monthly journal entries and ensures financial information is accurate.
3. Analyzes and interpret financial information to explain variances to Senior Management and Program Managers.
4. Prepares reports for local governments, state agencies, and federal government.
5. Assists state, federal, and independent auditors with the necessary information and schedules to complete audits within the time frame established.
6. Assists in budget preparation in respective areas.
7. Responsible for contract/grant billing, tracking for financial purposes, and reporting as assigned.
8. Maintain Frontier Health’s fixed assets on the register and safeguard them through tagging and physical inspections.
9. Responsible for bank reconciliations and reporting problems to Accounting Manager.
10. Assists in monitoring cash collections, petty cash, and client funds at sites.
11. Attend and participate in regularly scheduled staff meetings and inservices and individual program planning staffings as needed.
12. All other duties as assigned.
