POSITION SUMMARY
The Lead Officer is responsible for the safety of all FJ Customers and staff. They should have extensive knowledge about the operation of firearms of all types, and may be called upon to offer assistance for shooters using the lanes. Their primary duty is to organize, conduct and supervise safe shooting activities and range operations for all shooters at all times. PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Achieve Results
- Monitor all activity on the shooting lanes at all times.
- Keep all areas sanitary, clean and within the law.
- Execute excellence with customers on the range and in retail through the proper knowledge of technology both on the range and at the point of sale.
- Maintain a professional and courteous appearance and demeanor.
- Maintain supplies for daily operation of the range.
- Train RSOs and ensure their compliance with range operation policies.
Operational Excellence
- Strict adherence to the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) at ALL times
- Evaluate conditions on the range at all times, making adjustments as necessary.
- Teach customers how to operate lanes and targets.
- Know and follow emergency response plans at all times necessary.
- Reports daily to the General Manager and COO as to any operational issues that might need addressed.
Relationships
- Establish and ensure collaborative, supporting relationships within the entire organization.
- Establish and maintain positive, effective relationships with key resources, including external vendors, trainers outside of FJ who will pay for space, and customers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/ Key Competencies
- NRA RSOs should be experienced shooters, familiar with many firearms and able to demonstrate the clearing of stoppages and malfunctions.
- Skills to teach and educate shooters of all levels.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize responsibilities.
- Skilled in both CPR and First Aid.
- Skills to safely take a firearm from a shooter.
- Effective communication skills.
EDUCATION
High school diploma required, with college hours preferred. NRA certified.
EXPERIENCE
Preferably 3-5 years firearms education and/or range safety officer duties.
OTHER
- Normal overtime/extended work hours.
- Must be able to physically audit and inspect all operations.
