Join us as a Technical Sales Engineer and you will play an integral role, supporting the growth of new and existing client relationships by providing pre- and post-sales support for development projects. The Technical Sales Engineer acts as a liaison between our clients and our sales and delivery team in project requirements gathering, scope creation, budget and timeline estimation, pitch support, and ongoing project support through the software development lifecycle.
The Technical Sales Engineer is intimately knowledgeable of all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including technical and design discovery exercises, design/UI/UX exercises, development, quality assurance, user acceptance testing, and project management. Our team works primarily in open source platforms (Drupal & WordPress) to deliver a wide range of projects, from brochure websites to e-commerce solutions to full software solutions. General responsibilities of the Technical Sales Engineer include:
- Support business development team members on initial pre-sales discovery calls to understand client needs and goals for new development projects.
- Lead deeper pre-sales requirements gathering exercises and provide documentation that will turn into initial scope and budget requirements.
- Work with the design, PM, and development team leads to solidify project approach, timelines & budgets.
- Work with the design team to create pitch decks and help business development team members during the project pitch by leading discussions around recommended project approach, project timeline, and project budget.
- Support the business development and legal team with delivery of final scope of work, contracts, and MSAs to clients for new projects.
- Complete final hand-off to the project’s lead PM and other team leads during internal kick-off meetings and engage with the team in initial client kick-off.
- Support project delivery team throughout the project when questions arise on scope of work and/or as change orders are needed.
- Participate in weekly allocations meetings and provide pipeline updates to the delivery team leads in order to properly forecast team bandwidth for incoming project work.
- Participate in project retrospectives in order to gain insights into the success/opportunities of previous project approaches, scopes of work, and proposed budgets, and continue to refine approaches to winning new work and executing on this work at the highest level.
- Support pre-sales calls for retainer based maintenance agreements and help to identify these opportunities as good fits for our team and help to define estimated monthly spends.
Required Key Skills and Education
- Bachelor’s degree in STEM or related field, or equivalent combination of education plus experience
- Minimum of 1 - 2 years of agency-side project management, web development, or related experience in the full software/web development life cycle
- Must be able to work collaboratively across agency and client teams to gather requirements and develop project approaches and solutions
- Interpersonal skills, able to develop rapport and work effectively with clients and other team members at all corporate levels
- Strong conceptual and problem-solving abilities
- Strong understanding of all aspects of the software/web development lifecycle and ability to take broad requirements and translate to executable user stories/project plans/scopes of work
- Ability to manage multiple pre-sales opportunities at a time
- Ability to negotiate features, timelines, and budgets with clients
- Well organized self-starter who can work both independently and as a team member
- Well-rounded communication skills including presentation skills, confident and comfortable communicating to clients and agency across various levels and teams
- Flexible, able to quickly adapt in a rapidly changing environment
- Experience working with Figma, WordPress and/or Drupal
- Adept at managing multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a keen eye for detail.

Salary Range
- $60,000-$85,000 annual on-target earnings (base plus bonus), commensurate with experience, skills, education and/or training
