Position: Draftsman / CAD Technician

FSI Architecture PC is a New York City based full-service architecture and engineering firm specializing in interior and exterior preservation, restoration, and forensic investigation.

We are seeking a Draftsman / CAD Technician to join our passionate, collaborative team of professionals. FSI is poised to grow, and this position would be a key pillar in helping to drive that growth. Prospective applicant shall be organized, dependable and detail oriented with the ability to work at a fast pace. Our project work requires dynamic versatility in scale, type and content. Prospective applicant should be able to multi-task, self-monitor for quality control, and adapt to company procedures and standards. They should also be confident in delegating, monitoring, and teaching junior CAD technicians during the team effort to complete architectural design and production drawings.

Prospective applicants will require experience working on a variety of architecture and engineering projects, from initial inspections and surveys, through execution and sign-off. Prospective applicants should be self-motivated, well rounded, and capable of multi-tasking across projects. Prospective applicants must be U.S. citizens or be eligible to work in the United States (unfortunately, we are not offering sponsorship at this time).

Candidate Qualifications:

• Associate degree in Architecture or Drafting, B.A. in Architecture or technical school graduate.
• A minimum of 1-2 year work experience in architectural office setting or equivalent.
• Ability to observe, evaluate and document site conditions.
• Experience with field testing and measurement tools.
• Knowledge of building components, and construction methods.
• Ability to multi-task and work alongside colleagues in a multi-disciplinary office environment.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit 2022. Other architectural drafting and modeling tools valued.
• Excellent problem-solving skills.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Well-rounded skills in MS Word, Outlook and Excel.

Summary of Responsibilities: 

• Create technical drawings and details for all type of buildings designs, interior and exterior using computer-aided drafting (CAD) software.
• Interpret surveys and architect’s / engineer’s rough sketches and notes.
• Ability to create comprehensive construction documents sets.

• Render schematic 3D in Revit for presentations and design options.
  Organizes architectural, structural, electrical and mechanical designs.
• Create plans for foundations, buildings and structures based on instructions provided by engineers and architects.
• Survey and document field conditions to gather data needed to complete designs.

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to access and navigate all areas of construction sites.
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
