Summary:
In this role, the Head of Security is responsible to develop and implement security strategies at our company. The Head of Security creates security policies and procedures, controlling budgets for security operations, acting as the liaison between company executive policies, government agencies, and security vendors, as well as managing the daily routines and techniques, tactics, and procedures of our on-site contracted security staff.
Essential Functions/Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collaborating with senior leadership to determine physical and electronic security needs of each facility and project installations
- Planning and implementing comprehensive security programs and strategies at each facility and project installations
- Monitoring security equipment such as alarms and surveillance cameras to ensure they are functioning properly
- Coordinating with local law enforcement agencies to respond to emergencies such as natural disasters, terrorism, and criminal activities
- Informing senior management about security concerns and potential risks that may impact business operations and provide mitigations plans
- Implementing security measures to protect company facilities and assets from theft or damage, including but not limited to locking mechanism, lighting systems, surveillance cameras and fences
- Coordinating security efforts with other departments within the organization to ensure that all areas are covered effectively
- Personally responsible for establishing recurring daily/hourly patrol routes throughout the facility
- Respond during normal hours, after hours and on holidays as necessary to facilitate security operations
- Gathering relevant intelligence from local and government sources and implementing preventative measures
- Preparing electronic surveillance equipment maintenance schedules and facilitating repairs in a timely manner, including all physical access control points and security badge readers
- Routinely Benchmark best industry practices and implement as appropriate
- Ensure compliance with all company policies, industry standard local security guidelines, and all other applicable laws
- Work with IT to monitor online activity/threats
- Working with and staying connected to outside organizations that monitor global terrorist threats (FBI, DHS, NTSA, etc.,)
- Travel to Board, Executive meetings, other events where security assists is warranted
- Travel to domestic and international facilities as necessary
- Partner with the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) team on enterprise physical and human capital security
- Provide assessment and from time-to-time travel with the CEO and Executive Team Leaders to assure protective practices are in place
- Provided protective transportation for CEO and Executive Team Leaders as needed
- Ensure the safety of CEO, Executive Team Leaders, the Board, and other high-profile individuals who may be exposed to personal risks
- Provided personal assistance to CEO, his family and ELT members and their families as needed
- Implementing stringent routes planning and pre-advance procedures
- Conducting roadway risk assessment
- Coordinating ground logistics in conjunction with Senior Executive Administrator to President and CEO and ELT members
- Maintain corporate vehicle as needed, service and upkeep
- Build and develop a security team
- Develop and provide security awareness training benchmarking laws, trends, and best industry standard
Qualifications and Experience:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent; advanced degree preferred
- Experience: 5 years previous corporate security-related experience or retired law enforcement with a focus on security/terrorist threats
- Extensive experience in preventing illegal activity and performing access control procedures
- In-depth knowledge of security procedures and electronic surveillance equipment
- Extensive knowledge of surveillance, de-escalation, and intervention techniques with experience in a similar role
