Fueling Brains is passionate about moving practice forward through strong professional development, and as such, provides regular, in-house professional development courses in Education programs and practices. Fueling Brains is looking for a Behavior Coach and the details are as follows:-
The Opportunity:
The Behavior Coach's responsibilities include assisting staff in defining and measuring behavior, understanding principles of reinforcement, identifying antecedents, teaching new behavior, and implementing strategies for reducing challenging behavior.
Reporting to the BCBA, the Behavior coach is responsible for providing behavioral support to children while coaching teachers and parents using strategies so that all students are successful and able to access their education.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:
- The behavior coach will model, mentor and support children by working directly with classroom teachers.
- The behavior coach will focus on increasing the skills of the regular classroom teacher to better meet the needs of the children with behavioral and/or emotional issues.
- Work collaboratively with the school to identify children in need of early behavioral intervention.
- The behavior coach will develop plans and coach teachers in the implementation of the plan.
- Maintain documentation of the child's progress.
- Provide small group social thinking and mindfulness instruction to the child.
- Collaborate with school personnel, agencies and families in coordinating services.
- Complete all reporting requirements as mandated by the district, state, federal and educational agencies.
- Collect and summarize behavioral data collaboratively with teachers/staff and make recommendations about adjustments that should be made in the plan/program.
- Assist with crisis intervention and prevention.
- Provide ongoing faculty training to support school-wide positive behavior strategies for the child.
- Participation in the Behavioral Curriculum Training for Behavior Coaches provided prior to assignment to the Parent/Child Group Training Program.
- Participation in each Phase of the child and parent group training, both on-site and in community settings that have been selected by both staff and parents, where children can practice appropriate social and adaptive behaviors.
- Provide functional behavior assessments and use data to develop tiered interventions of support for individual children as needed.
- Ability to take a prominent role in the delivery of the Group Parent/ Child Training Program. Support the Group Facilitator with data collection, attendance, and implementation of the child Behavioral Intervention Plans as well as coaching and supporting the parents to successfully implement these plans.
- Meet regularly with teacher teams to analyze behavior data and develop strategies for all children to be successful in the classroom.
- Model behavior management strategies for teachers and staff for successfully addressing challenging behavior.
- Effectively manage escalated child behavior.
- Other duties as assigned by the BCBA
What you bring (Preferred Skills and Qualifications):
- Degree in Special Education, psychology, or a related field.
- Proven experience in working directly with children with special needs.
- Strong working knowledge of behavioral theory and applied behavior analysis.
- Understanding of the characteristics and behaviors associated with disorders.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to handle intense emotional situations.
- Ability to apply behavioral principles.
- Strong analytical and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent stress management skills.
- RBT is Preferred - candidates must aspire to be a RBT in a few months post joining if not a current RBT
