Job Description The Staff Geoscientist is responsible to performs marine geophysical site investigation reporting under general supervision; independently interprets and assimilates geophysical, geotechnical, and well data; writes technical reports; makes project presentations to clients; provides technical training to other staff; delegates tasks as appropriate; and develops own technical skills and knowledge of Fugro’s computer software and services. Accurately and independently validates and interprets marine site investigation geophysical / geologic data and assimilates with various geotechnical and offset well data. Performs most aspects of shallow geologic and geohazards evaluations, including mapping, characterization, analysis, assessment, and reporting. All technical work is subject to the general guidance and review of a licensed professional geoscientist. Maintains project ArcGIS file geodatabases according to standard procedures and terminology for purposes of data management and map presentation. Prepares data examples and graphics, and works closely with GIS/CAD coordinator to facilitate presentation-quality charts. Frequently interacts with clients on technical issues and carefully documents project communications and activities according to Fugro procedures Writes and prepares all aspects of technical reports and makes technical presentations to clients. Supervise field and laboratory operations of company and subcontractors and solve minor problems that may arise in the process. Works with management and supervisors to identify own learning and development needs and further develops own technical knowledge relative to Fugro’s core business. Job Requirements Legally authorized to work in the United States without restrictions. Possess current driver’s license with acceptable motor vehicle record. Possess the ability to obtain a valid passport for international travel Possess a M.S. degree or higher in Geoscience or B.S. degree in Geoscience Have 1 to 3 years or more in marine site investigations with experience interpreting most associated geophysical data types and exposure to multiple associated project types. Completion of comprehensive training course in interpretation of 3-D seismic data. Proficient user of MS Office Suite and CorelDraw; intermediate to advanced skill level on SMT Kingdom Suite, ArcGIS, Global Mapper and other in-house geoscience software. What’s in it for you?
