POSITION SUMMARY:     

 

Entry level contributor focused on basic fluid properties as well as fluid and material interactions for material selection and failure prevention. Performs experiments with specific direction from Engineers, Chemists and/or Senior Scientists, then records and reports results. Failure analysis requires performing an investigation on parts and assemblies from production as well as customer returned assemblies. The role of a Technician (Level I) is to perform low level failure analysis investigations and provide feedback of occurring tends in failures to senior staff.

 

 

SKILL:

Acquires job skills and learns company policies and procedures to complete routine tasks.

JOB COMPLEXLITY:

Works on assignments that are routine in nature, requiring limited judgment. Has little or no role in decision-making.

SUPERVISION:

Normally receives detailed instructions on all work. Works under close supervision.

EXPERIENCE:

Typically requires less than 1 year of related experience.

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

                                                                                                                    

  • Performs experiments and tests on simple assemblies and systems.
  • Creates and adheres to scheduled analysis intervals for applicable experiments and tests.
  • Performs basic set up and monitoring of equipment in a laboratory and/or manufacturing environment.
  • Audits work for accuracy and reports discrepancies to engineering.
  • Correlates and reports results and observations of testing and experiments to engineering using databases and spreadsheet computer programs.
  • Works from formal and informal written/verbal instructions, specifications, technical manuals and engineering sketches.
  • Uses and maintains a variety of test equipment.
  • Works closely with engineers, chemists, senior scientists and senior technicians.
  • Compiles, records and reports test results.
  • Works on assignments that are routine in nature, requiring limited judgment.
  • Must be a team player and be able to work in a team environment.

REQUIRED:

  • High School or equivalent years of experience and 0-1 years of related experience.
  • Solid working knowledge of Excel, Word and PowerPoint or equivalent computer programs.
  • Desire to maintain very high standards of process control.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability and desire to contribute both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to flex within the work schedule daily to meet the needs of the department.
  • Ability to follow prescribed safety rules and regulations.
  • Ability to read and understand formal and informal oral and written instructions, technical procedures and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from supervisor, management and peers.
  • Competency in addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit or stand to use hands to manipulate, handle, touch and connect parts.
  • Standing or walking is required more than 30% of the day.
  • The employee frequently is required to use a computer (keyboard and mouse) and/or calculator.
  • The employee frequently is required to speak and listen.
  • The employee is regularly required to stand, walk and reach with hands and arms.
  • The employee will occasionally lift and/or move items up to 10 pounds and will very occasionally be required to move items in the 25 to 50 lb. Range.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and frequent use of microscopes

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to low.
  • Office, laboratory and/or production environment.

  • May work in cleanroom environment that requires wearing full gowning (smock, hood, gloves, boots and face mask)

  • Other duties as may be assigned.
  • Has little or no role in decision-making.
