POSITION SUMMARY:
The Fujifilm Integrated Inkjet Solutions team develops, builds, and supports inkjet printing systems based upon our proprietary printhead technology. Our clients are companies who use inkjet printing and fluid deposition technologies as an integral part of their manufacturing and industrial production processes.
The Project Manager III manages complex projects for the development and manufacturing of inkjet printing systems. Such systems typically involve complex software. This individual will liaise between the engineering development team and business managers to oversee, evaluate, and maintain accountability for project deliverables, requirements, and schedules.
This role focuses on schedule management for on-time delivery, which includes not only initial scheduling of work, but also regular replanning of detailed work based on actual work completed and planning adjustments during project execution. Engages daily with the development team to frame progress and problems in a way that allows the reforecasting of schedules to broadly communicate status within the business and to customers. Will manage multiple projects concurrently.
Performs schedule evaluations to explore how to recover lost schedule margin and analyze the potential impact to projects that compete for resources. Functions as the key communicator in the interface between business managers, production teams, and software developers. Also has a key role in facilitating the management of schedule risk, which involves facilitating the identification of risks, quantifying risk, tracking risks, and scheduling for such risk.

Typical Degree & Years of Experience
Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 3 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD without experience; or equivalent work experience.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work with the development and production teams to plan work in schedulable tasks to meet requirements and comply with the business’s stage-gate process.
- Convert technical work plans and resource estimates into resource loaded, logic driven schedules that forecast project completion.
- Develop and manage resource loaded project schedules, project scope documentation, change requests, and risk registers.
- Identify, track, measure, and report on the delivery status of multiple projects in a way that rolls up detailed status at a summary level that is broadly understandable.
- Evaluates scope, schedule, risk, and budget trade-offs, to quantify the potential outcome of options that vary scope, schedule, and risk to different degrees.
- In cases where detailed technical work planning is under development, is able to use backward scheduling techniques and milestone schedules to set milestone delivery objectives for the engineering development team as a preliminary plan. Can iteratively build-out schedule detail during project execution.
- Uses schedule data and project metrics collected over time to identify trends and insights and proactively converts these into actionable recommendations to avoid late delivery.
- Owns and manages schedule contingency budgets. Takes proactive action to maintain schedule contingency for high assurance of on-time delivery.
- Uses insights from project management methods to identify opportunities for progress improvement and challenges the development and production team to explore such opportunities.
- May be assigned to manage multiple projects in a technical discipline such as Software, which will involve program management functions such as evaluating and managing resource demand across multiple projects.
- Oversees suppliers contracted for services supporting software projects. This includes financial and contract oversight, confirming scope of work delivered, and negotiating discounts as appropriate.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Does not have direct supervisory responsibility.
- Significant coordination across departments and within own department of resources.
QUALIFICATIONS:

REQUIRED:

- Bachelor’s Degree in a technical field.
- 5 years of experience doing project management involving significant technical requirements.
- A commanding understanding of project schedule management techniques.
- Hands-on experience using scheduling software.
- The ability to persistently and proactively seek out schedule inputs in a rapid and dynamic environment.
- The ability to forecast schedules with a varying degree of project scope granularity.
- Can analyze schedule variation over time to determine and summarize trends.
- Proven ability to effectively build effective interpersonal relationships across functions and constituents.
- Must be able to summarize and communicate highly complex technical concepts in project management terms (scope, schedule, budget, and risk).
- The ability to extract information and manage issues at a chosen and varying level of detail that is appropriate for the scope of the project and the relative priority among different projects.
- Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with individuals within and outside the organization.
- An open and willing attitude toward exploring a wide range of project management techniques and to change techniques as business needs evolve.
PREFERRED:
- Project management certification from the Project Management Institute
- 7 years of experience doing project management involving significant technical requirements.
- Experience with projects that involve software used for machine control (ideally: C#/VB, C . C, FPGA, PLC).
- Experience in printing, and especially inkjet printing experience
