The Role
The LIMS Administrator position responsibilities include providing project management services to analytical laboratories and manufacturing in the areas of LIMS, CPro, and SAP development and implementation, application development, laboratory automation/optimization and quality systems support for the FEUP facilities.
Internal Job Description
Key responsibilities for this role include:
- Maintain LabWare Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) for FEUP facilities
- Construct and perform routine maintenance on LIMS.
- Troubleshoot application problems to minimize error potential and streamline laboratory workflow
- Support unit integration and acceptance testing on LIMS upgrades to ensure proper performance before general release
- Coordinate with LIMS Administrator in Mesa Facility to ensure proper LIMS / JMP implementation
- Provide timely response to user needs to include managing user accounts, troubleshooting applications, programming new report templates, and maintaining change records in accordance with version control procedures
- The LIMS Administrator will also document user requirements for new LIMS functionality coordinating with the Mesa LIMS Administrator to support to all LIMS development efforts for FEUP
- Responsibilities may include collaborating with the global LIMS users and IT department to ensure new functionality meets user requirements, writing acceptance test scripts for new LIMS functionality and participating in the validation of new software releases
- Provide support for the implementation and maintenance of the SAP system for all FEUP departments
REQUIREMENTS
- Four-year degree in Computer Science or equivalent field and a minimum of 2 years database support preferred. Will also consider a two-year degree with a minimum of five years of additional database support experience.
- Programming experience to include VB, VBA, SQL, ASP and HTML
- Database administration experience to include MS Access and SQL Server
- Experience with Microsoft products such as Word, Excel, Access, and Power Point
- 1 – 2 years of experience in using, configuring and implementing a LIMS system preferred
- Good communication, interpersonal effectiveness, documentation, and organizational skills
- Demonstrated ability to support multiple priorities (multi-task) within a fast-paced environment in a positive and collaborative manner
- Technical Skills & Knowledge: Microsoft Office, Visual Basic for Applications (VBA), Structured Query Language (SQL), Microsoft Access and SQL Server, Computer Operating Systems and Networks, Configuration/Release Management
- Business Skills & Knowledge: Analytical Chemistry, Laboratory Workflow, Statistics, Communication Skills
- Additionally, the successful candidate in this position must be able to effectively manage the projects across multiple locations and time
