Funeral home in Yreka has a job opportunity for a at will/part time, on-call removal & transport specialist.
Multiple locations: Greater Yreka area with off site work including occasional travel to surrounding counties. Normal schedule would be weekend/nights/on-call as needed.
Essential Job Functions: Meeting the public and maintaining a professional, accommodating and supportive customer service attitude. Duties include being on call for removals and transports of the decedent. This position is responsible for the care, removal and transport of human remains from hospital, nursing home or residence in accordance with all state, local and company policies and procedures.
Minimum Experience Required: This is an entry level part time position. We offer on site training with support from other locations within our company.
Skill Required: Safe driving and effective communication and coordination of priorities with co-workers. High level of compassion, integrity, common sense, cooperativeness and flexibility.
Typical Working Conditions: Driving in a company van, providing 1st call pickup of the decedent. Working conditions include a wide range of conditions including exposure to the outdoors, unfavorable weather conditions, visits to decedent's home, hospital or other locations. Maintains and ensures the removal vehicle is clean inside and out and is properly maintained.
Equipment Used: Operate funeral home vehicles in a safe and inconspicuous manner in all weather and at any time of day or night. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) utilizing “Universal Precautions”. Mortuary stretcher, use of ankle bands, appropriate wrapping of decedent, and slide boards. Pen/Paper record keeping along with digital records data entry. Expectation of professional dress & appearance following company dress code and personal standards policies.
Essential Physical Tasks: Ability to lift up to 100 pounds and assist with push/pull 400 pounds. Twisting and turning and bending, reaching over shoulders, sitting, standing, walking on uneven and/or slippery surfaces.
Background Check & Drug/Alcohol Testing required.
