About the role

This is a onsite, 6 months to 1 year contract engagement. Responsible for managing large Data and Analytics projects in Microsoft Azure, including Data engineering, Data warehousing, Data visualization and AI. This role overviews all the initiatives in the area, coordinating and managing inter-dependencies, including oversight of any risks and issues arising.

Salary Range: US$100 - 125/hour

Qualification / Skill Set Requirement

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college including or supplemented by further education in accounting, auditing, business or public administration, computer science, economics, finance. MBA Degree is preferable
  • Over 10 years of experience working in Data and Analytics projects
  • Experience managing at least $5M programs
  • Effective leadership, interpersonal and communication skills with expertise and experience in delivering Data and Analytics projects in Microsoft Azure
  • Managed teams working on Data engineering, Data warehousing, Data visualization and AI, covering the entire end to end for Data and Analytics projects
  • Strong program and project management and organizational abilities with a keen eye for detail and the ability to find ways of solving or pre-empting problems
  • Strong knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle applied to Data and Analytics initiatives
  • Able to work well under pressure and effectively prioritize tasks to keep team members focused amidst shifting timelines and needs
  • Strong communicator and collaborator who can adapt to a variety or work styles and synthesize feedback from multiple stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to research and propose new approaches and think creatively and flexibly about how to meet diverse audience needs.
  • The ability to command respect and to create a sense of community amongst the members of the project teams, with a strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Strong knowledge of techniques for planning, monitoring and controlling programs, SAFe® certifications, Certified Scrum master, PMI Agile Certified Practitioner preferred
  • Strong experience working in Agile: including Scrum and Kanban
  • Strong Grasp on software for project management such as JIRA (Workflow, Issue Type, Rules Automation, Project Board Customization, Permissions, JQL, Dashboard, Utilization Reports), Confluence, Roadmap and Release plan tools, Timeline tools  Spreadsheet, Documentation tools, Presentation Tools
  • Strong experience managing international clients & leading a team of Project Managers 
  • Past experience handling product management would be preferred
  • Good understanding of the procurement process including negotiation with third parties
  • Good knowledge of program and project management methods including MSP and PRINCE2
  • Good knowledge of budgeting and resource allocation procedures
  • Sufficient seniority and credibility to advise project teams on their projects in relation to the program 

Responsibilities

  • Planning and designing the program and proactively monitoring its progress, resolving issues and initiating appropriate corrective action. 
  • Provide projects estimation and planning, including being responsible for scheduling, resourcing requirements, and budgeting
  • Defining the program's governance arrangements: Providing thought leadership, strategic insight, and clear communication (written and verbally) to the teams on strategy to streamline and scale project management processes
  • Define requirements and work with relevant cross-functional teams to guarantee smooth, efficient implementation and delivery
  • Ensure that each project has clear goals and timelines
  • Ensuring effective quality assurance and the overall integrity of the program - focusing inwardly on the internal consistency of the program , and outwardly on its coherence with infrastructure planning, interfaces with other programs and corporate, technical and specialist standards
  • Managing the program's budget, monitoring expenditure and costs against delivered and realized benefits as the program progresses
  • Facilitating the appointment of individuals to project teams
  • Ensuring the delivery of new products or services from projects is to the appropriate level of quality, on time and within budget, in accordance with the program plan and program governance arrangements
  • Lead cross-functional project teams and manage work assignments
  • Ensuring there is allocation of common resources and skills within the program's individual projects, monitoring and Managing resource availability and allocation
  • Managing third party contributions to the program , assisting with RFP and procurement process; coordinating with vendors to report on costs, scope of work, and performance as needed, requesting and reviewing estimates and tracking expenses against approved budgets.
  • Managing communications with all stakeholders: Identifying and engaging project-relevant stakeholders to ensure an aligned communication and decision-making process. 
  • Managing both the dependencies and the interfaces between projects
  • Managing risks to the program's successful outcome, performing overall program and projects risk and issue management, and handling detailed tracking and mitigation planning
  • Working with the business change manager or equivalent on the transition to the new business as usual position
  • Initiating extra activities and other management interventions wherever gaps in the program are identified or issues arise
  • Lead project management team through standardization and change management processes
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation within standards of the business
  • Coach and mentor team members to share knowledge, skills and/or experience, to help team’s development and grow
  • Reporting the progress of the program at regular intervals to the stakeholders analyzing performance, of internal and external resources, for completion of short and long term goals 
  • Foster a project management environment that promotes productivity, innovation and efficacy
  • Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel
  • Continue professional development in order to keep abreast of emerging technologies, methods and best practices
  • Establish practices, templates, policies, tools and partnerships to expand and mature these capabilities for the organization
  • Participate in regular team meetings like Daily Standup, Sprint Planning, Regular Follow ups, Retrospective Meetings and so on
