Responsible for friendly and efficient personal service to all guests. Informs the guests of all special menu items, makes recommendations, serves food and collects payment. Assists in creating a dining experience that will ensure the satisfaction and return of the guest. Job Description

  • Completes pre-opening requirements.
  • Smiles and politely and promptly greets each new table of guests and introduces him or herself.
  • Provides superior customer service, positively effects interactions with customers and fellow associates.
  • Has the resiliency to deal with difficult customers in all types of business conditions and the ability to work harmoniously with co-workers.
  • Knowledge of all beverage, menu items and daily specials. Provides suggestions and attempts to upsell each table.
  • Capable of describing, recommending, presenting and serving wine.
  • Provides excellent “silent service” throughout the dining experience by being on the floor and visible to assist as needed. Provides extraordinary guest service and successfully handles and resolves guest comments, problems and/or concerns.
  • Skilled at slowing and refusing alcoholic beverages when necessary.
  • Complies with safety and sanitation requirements.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Basic Point of Sale (POS) knowledge.
  • Knowledgeable of all aspects of departmental operations, including events and operating hours.
  • Inspect and maintain assigned section.
  • Knowledge of service, service etiquette, and standard service practices for restaurants.
  • Ability to read and understand Banquet Event Orders (BEOs).
  • Ability to work large or small events with minimal supervision and in a team environment.
  • Assures that all state and local laws and regulations and hotel and bar policies for service of alcoholic beverages are always followed.
  • Knowledge of and ability to perform required role during emergency situations.
  • Follows set-up procedures.
  • Collects checks and payments for food and drinks ordered.
  • Reports issues to manager as they occur.
  • Ensures that all food items are correctly stored, labeled, dated and rotated to prevent any health or safety hazards from occurring; takes precautions against possible spoilage or waste.
  • Attend monthly department meetings and training sessions as necessary.
  • Anything that contributes to a positive culture and the success of the hotel.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Requirements

 

  • High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED).
  • One to two years previous experience in a similar position.
  • POS experience preferred (Micros, Squirrel, etc.).
  • Food safety certification valued.
  • Of legal age to serve alcoholic beverages.
