This position works in our Viscose Manufacturing, Casting or Coating Department. Standard schedule includes rotating 12-hour shifts working 3 or 4 days per week.  Shifts rotate between nights and days every 28 days.

 

We make NatureFlex and Cellophane packaging films.  These are biodegradable and compostable products to help reduce plastic pollution around the world!  Since they are made from renewable wood pulp as a raw material, we essentially make transparent paper.  Check out the process here.

 

Compostable packaging is a rapidly expanding market.  As a result, Futamura is in the process of a major expansion to keep up with the growing demand for our products.    We are looking for good people with a drive for advancement to come join our team.

Responsibilities

Our Quality Control Technician tests and conducts routine and non-routine analysis of raw materials, in-process, and finished product, using variety of testing devices and procedures to maintain product quality.

Duties include:

  • Performs analytical tests on samples, using instrumentation and equipment such as ovens and molds, and performs calculations to measure such factors as purity, particle size, and hardness, applying arithmetic formula.
  • Collects and records results of sampling and testing to maintain record of product quality. May be involved in the development of testing methods.
  • Revises and updates standard operating procedures as needed. May perform special projects on analytical and instrument problem solving including instrument and process validation.
  • Prepare test solutions, compounds, and reagents for plant personnel to conduct test.
  • Perform special projects on analytical and instrument problem solving in liaison with QC Supervisor.
  • The calibrations of lab instruments including Moisture analyzing meter (moisturex), Spectrophotometer (Genesys), Refractometer (Lieca), Optical Density Meter (Macbeth), Laboratory Templates, PH-Meters, Thermometers .
  • Ability to monitor and cooperate with personnel from other departments running routine samples in the lab.
  • Create and maintain Quality Control trend analysis reports for specified criteria
  • Data Entry of all results into HP system and/or email to required departments
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Applicants should possess the following qualifications:

  • 1 to 3 years' experience in a product-quality role
  • Educational background or work history in chemistry
  • Maintain regular attendance
  • The ability to think independently, while working within company structures and guidelines
  • History of teamwork and cooperation
  • Skilled in positions requiring attention to detail
