Managed Care Billing Specialist

***This is a Hybrid Remote position and scheduled hours at our Corporate office in Pasadena, MD***

Responsibilities

• Adjust patient’s accounts with retro census changes, and other various bill codes as assigned to specific A/R adjustments
• Prepare and submit electronic billing for assigned facilities
• Prepare and submit hardcopy billing as necessary for assigned facilities
• Complete monthly billing cycle to record all Managed Care charges
• Generate insurance statements
• Coordinate interaction with insurance company’s claims and utilization review departments for claim rejections
• Attend bi-weekly meetings with Care Managers to discuss authorization and payment discrepancy issues. 
• Maintain clear and up-to-date notes on progress of all outstanding balances
• Assist assigned facilities on all incoming questions and requests
• Attend monthly A/R meetings and explain status of all Managed Care balances
• Assist Managed Care/Medicaid Billing Manager with new employee training

Qualifications

•  high school diploma required
• 4 years experience in a medical billing environment
• associates degree with 2 years experience; or a Bachelors degree in lieu of previous experience
• Ability to communicate effectively with outside agencies, all levels of management, and staff  
• Strong research, problem solving and resolution abilities required
• Familiarity with computers, including Microsoft Office Suite strongly desired  
• Ability to support administrative staff while working in an office environment
• Prior knowledge of using office equipment, fax machine, copier, operating phone system, and 10-key calculator required
